Dear Parents,
On
Wednesday of this week, year 7 visited the Rulfo bookstore and Mr. Preciado was
nice enough to show them some of his paintings. He spoke to students about
Mexico’s bicentennial, the celebration of the nation’s Independence and
Revolution. Mr. Preciado gave VICTORIA a copy of one of his printed paintings
and allowed Alejandro to choose which one he would like to take home with him
since he was able to identify a symbol in one of his most recent paintings.
On
Friday 5th October we are having a Mexican Cricket Association fundraising
event at Las Cavas to raise money to send three Victoria pupils to El Salvador.
Jorge, Andrés, André and ex-pupil Santiago have been selected to represent
Mexico in an international cricket competition which will take place in
December. Tickets are on sale now at Reception, with Mr Duncombe and Mr Hiley.
The cost of $200 includes food, drink, music and entertainment. This should be
a great night so please come along and help support, thank you. The word of the
week is support.
I
would like to thank Jeanette Blanchette who kindly covered some classes for us
this week voluntarily. We really appreciate this kind of support. Thank you.
As I am
sure most Primary parents know, this year all the children are in a special
group every afternoon for active phonics teaching at exactly their level. This
programme is firmly based on Read Write Inc and we are already developing our
own materials to support second language learners. There is an excellent

check it out; you too can have a whoosh and a few fireworks!
We have been given very late notice that there is a SEP course that all our Secondary teachers need to attend next week. We apologise for the inconvenience, but we will have to close Secondary
(years 7, 8, 9, and 10) on Tuesday 2nd October.
Kinder, Primary and Prepa will remain open as usual.

We are currently looking
for a bilingual teaching assistant. If you know anyone who would be interested
then please ask them to send their CV to direccionkt_ibv@prodigy.net.mx before Friday 5th
October. Interviews will be held on Tuesday 9th October. Applicants
must have fluent spoken English.
Unfortunately Miss Moylan
Jones had to leave VICTORIA for personal reasons. We have already employed a
new Secondary English teacher, Ms Doherty, who will be arriving in Mexico in
the first week of November. Until then we have a full time cover teacher who is
doing an excellent job.

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:
Año 7 visitó la librería Rulfo el miércoles de
esta semana y el Arq. Preciado nos mostró parte de sus pinturas. A través de
algunas de ellas nos platicó del Bicentenario, el aniversario de la
Independencia de México y la Revolución Mexicana. Regaló a la escuela una copia de una de sus
pinturas y a Alejandro le dio a escoger una por haber identificado un símbolo
de una de sus pinturas más recientes.
El viernes 5 de octubre es el evento de la
Asociación Mexicana de Cricket en Las Cavas para recaudar fondos para mandar a
tres de nuestros alumnos a El Salvador. Jorge, Andrés, André (alumnos de
VICTORIA) y Santiago, exalumno, han sido seleccionados para representar a
México en una competencia internacional de cricket que se llevará a cabo en
diciembre. Los boletos ya están a la venta en la Recepción de la escuela, con
Mr. Duncombe y Mr Hiley. El costo es de $200.00 pesos e incluye la cena,
bebidas, música y entretenimiento. Va a ser una noche increíble por lo que
espero verlos allí y les agradezco mucho su apoyo. Gracias y la palabra de la
semana es apoyo.

Nos notificaron con muy poco tiempo de
anticipación que habrá un curso de la SEP para todos nuestros maestros de
Secundaria. Les pedimos una disculpa por cualquier inconveniente que esto les
cause pero nos vemos obligados a suspender las clases de Secundaria (Años 7, 8,
9 y 10) el martes 2 de octubre.
Kinder, Primaria y Prepa tendrán clases normales
ese día.
Como ya han de saber los padres
de familia de Primaria, este año los alumnos se encuentran en grupos especiales
para la enseñanza de fonética activa a su nivel cada tarde. Este programa se
basa firmemente en la Fonética para Leer y Escribir, Inc y ya estamos
desarrollando nuestro propio material para apoyar a aquellos alumnos que están

Estamos
buscando un asistente bilingüe. Si saben de alguien que podría estar
interesado(a), díganle que nos mande su currículum a direccionkt_ibv@prodigy.net.mx antes del viernes 5 de octubre. Las entrevistas
se llevarán a cabo el martes 9 de octubre. Los interesados deberán hablar
inglés con fluidez.
Desafortunadamente
la maestra Miss Moylan Jones tuvo que dejar al VICTORIA por razones personales.
Ya tenemos a una nueva maestra de inglés en Secundaria, Ms Doherty, y llegará a
México la primera semana de noviembre. Mientras tanto, tenemos una maestra
cubriendo sus clases y está haciendo un excelente trabajo.

- Miss Cheng invita a todos los padres de familia y alumnos de Año 5 a una junta el miércoles 3 de octubre de 3 a 4 p.m. Es muy importante que asistan ya que Miss Cheng les estará platicando acerca del programa de estudios para inglés y los objetivos que se espera sus hijos logren.
