Dear Parents,
Before getting into all this week’s events, I would like to thank everyone from Ejido Hacienda Grande for organising such a lovely posada for our teachers. Everything was delicious as always and the evening was very enjoyable.
The enormous success of our first International Cricket Tournament rather caught us by surprise! It was wonderful to have the school full of people from all over the world including Mexico, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, Pakistan, Canada and El Salvador. I would like to congratulate all the players (students and staff) and I would also like to thank the families who hosted visitors. I hope you enjoyed the excellent experience of making a friend from another country which is not too far away. A special thank you to Dominique, who flew to Mexico from Stowe School in the UK for the tournament and of course a very special thank you to Jon Bonfiglio for his hard work organising the event. We look forward to participating in many more cricket events.
Mrs. Gilby had a wonderful trip to Abu Dhabi; it was a great experience and she has come back with a clear picture of New York University in Abu Dhabi. The university staff were excellent hosts and she hopes she will be invited back another time! The word of the week is ‘festivities’.
Thank you so much to everybody who came along to the secondary talk on Wednesday about developing social and emotional skills. The materials are now available in the Parent’s Zone on the website. There are no longer spaces available for next term’s parenting course; however, I will let you know if I am able to run another one alongside it on a different day of the week.
Just a few reminders:
· Our next term’s calendar is now available in the Parent’s zone of the website. In order to access this area, you need to email Jorge Cordova (jcordova@bethics.com) for a username and password.
· Please could I ask you to spare a moment of your time and log on to our website www.victoriaschool.edu.mx and answer our question about report translation? You will find the poll on the left hand side of the Spanish homepage. Thank you, your feedback is really important to us and it will help us to continue to develop and improve.
· On Thursday 26th January, 2012, we will be holding an open morning for prospective parents to come and have a look around the school from 9am until 12pm.
Prior to the open morning we will be holding informative talks throughout the month of January on the following days:
o San Juan del Rio – Wednesday 11th January at 9:30am in Arkos Quinta Real, Av. Paso de los Guzman #52
o San Gil – Wednesday 18th January at 9:30am in the Club House, San Gil
o Ezequiel Montes – Wednesday 25th January at 9:30 am in the restaurant ‘El Recuerdo’, Joaquin Vega s/n
Please come along to the talks and invite any friends who may be interested in sending their children to VICTORIA in the future. If you would like some invitations to give to friends, please contact Lety in Reception.
We have had an incredibly successful term here at VICTORIA. Students and staff have worked hard and earned a well-deserved rest! However I must remind you that our Year 11 and 13 pupils will be sitting their mock international exams in January and they will need to set aside time to study during the holidays.
I very much hope that you enjoyed our Christmas concert. I would like to thank you for coming and also thank you for all your help and support throughout the term. I continue to be amazed by how much we achieve together as the VICTORIA community and this is only made possible by close communication between staff, students and parents. Thank you!
Don’t forget: 3rd January is the first day of next term.

Estimados Padres de Familia:
Antes de empezar con los eventos de la semana, les damos las gracias a las familias de Ejido Hacienda Grande por haber organizado una posada tan agradable para los maestros. Todo estuvo delicioso como siempre y la noche muy bonita.
¡El enorme éxito de nuestro primer Torneo Internacional de Cricket nos tomó un poco por sorpresa! Fue maravilloso tener la escuela llena de gente de todo el mundo incluyendo México, UK, Australia, Nueva Zelanda, Irlanda, India, Pakistán, Canadá y El Salvador. Además de felicitar a los jugadores (alumnos y maestros) quiero agradecerles a las familias que dieron hospedaje a los jugadores visitantes. Espero que hayan disfrutado de tan excelente experiencia de hacer amistades con alguien de otro país no tan lejano. Le damos un agradecimiento especial a Dominique, quien viajó a México por parte de la escuela Stowe en el Reino Unido para el torneo, pero también otro agradecimiento a Jon Bonfiglio por su gran trabajo al organizar el evento. Esperemos poder participar en muchos eventos más.
A Mrs. Gilby le fue muy bien en Abu Dhabi; fue una gran experiencia y regresa con una idea clara de la Universidad de Nueva York de Abu Dhabi. El personal de la universidad fue un excelente anfitrión y ella espera la inviten de nuevo. La palabra de la semana es 'festividades'.
Muchas gracias a todos los que asistieron a la plática de Secundaria el miércoles acerca de como desarrollar habilidades sociales y emocionales. Los materiales ya los pueden encontrar en la sección de Padres, en nuestro sitio web. Ya no hay cupo para el Curso para Padres del siguiente periodo, sin embargo les informaré si tengo la posibilidad de abrir otro curso otro día de la semana.
Los recordatorios de la semana:
· Ya podrán ver el calendario del siguiente periodo en la sección de Padres en nuestra página web. Para poder acceder a esta sección, es necesario enviar un correo electrónico a Jorge Córdova (jcordova@bethics.com) para que él les asigne un nombre de usuario y contraseña.
· Les pido que por favor se tomen el tiempo de entrar a nuestro sitio web www.victoriaschool.edu.mx y contesten la encuesta acerca de la traducción de reportes. La encontrarán del lado izquierdo de la página principal de inicio de español. Muchas gracias por contestarla ya que su opinión nos ayudará a seguir desarrollándonos y mejorando.
· El jueves 26 de enero del 2012 habrá una clase abierta en la escuela para aquellos padres que les interesa ver la escuela más de cerca de 9:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m.
Antes de este día, habrá pláticas informativas durante el mes de enero en las siguientes fechas:
o Miércoles 11 de enero, Arkos Quinta Real, Av. Paso de los Guzmán #52, a las 9:30 a.m.
o Miércoles 18 de enero, en la Casa Club del Club de Golf San Gil, a las 9:30 a.m.
o Miércoles 25 de enero, en el restaurant “El Recuerdo”, Joaquín Vega s/n, Ezequiel Montes, a las 9:30 a.m.
Por favor vengan a las pláticas e inviten a todos sus amigos que estén interesados en mandar a sus hijos al VICTORIA en el futuro. Si quieren algunas invitaciones para sus amistades, contacten a Lety en Recepción.
Este periodo en el VICTORIA ha sido muy exitoso. Los estudiantes y el personal han trabajado muy duro y se merecen este descanso. Sin embargo, les recuerdo que los alumnos de Años 11 y 13 presentarán sus exámenes de diagnóstico de Cambridge y deberán estudiar durante las vacaciones.
Espero que hayan disfrutado nuestro concierto de Navidad. Les agradezco mucho el haber asistido y toda su ayuda y apoyo durante este periodo escolar. Sigo asombrada por todo lo que logramos como comunidad y esto solo se logra por medio de la buena comunicación entre el personal, los estudiantes y los padres de familia. ¡Muchas gracias!
