Dear Parents,

Many congratulations to Luis Pazos in Yr 13. He has been selected to attend a candidate weekend at the New York University Abu Dhabi campus. The university will pay all his expenses to participate and he will be travelling next week to Abu Dhabi. The candidate weekend is part of the selection process to enter the university. Good luck next week, Luis, we wish you every success. The word of the week is “Abu Dhabi”.

Thank you to all of you who have been supporting us with our promotional talks.  We will be holding another informative talk in Ezequiel Montes on Wednesday 25^th January at 9:30am in the restaurant ‘El Recuerdo’, Joaquin Vega s/n. Please come along to the talk and invite any friends who may be interested in sending their children to VICTORIA in the future.  If you would like some invitations to give to friends, please contact Lety in Reception.

Thanks also for support in school: the Sahagún family have made an attractive donation of books to the library.

There are mixed opinions about the two queues in order to pick up children. We would like to give it another week's trial. The new system works well but parents need to collect students promptly to avoid students waiting out in the sun for long.

A few reminders:

·      On Thursday 26^th January, 2012, we will be holding an open morning for prospective parents to come and have a look around the school from 9am until 12pm.

·      If you are up to date with your school fees then during the month of February, you can take advantage of our offer on inscription payments.  There is a 10% discount on the inscription for this academic year.

·      To access our Parent Zone on the website, you need to send an email to Jorge Cordova and Jorge will send you your username and password.  His email address is jcordova@bethics.com

·      I would like to invite the Secondary parents who came to part 1 of my talk on Emotional Intelligence to come to part 2 which will be held on Friday 3^rd February at 1:45pm in Room 1010.

·      Don´t forget the national holiday on February 6^th followed by 7^th to make our “half term” break.

The Kinder Department is still looking for used car/truck tyres.  If you have any, we would be very grateful for them.

Estimados Padres de Familia:

Muchas felicidades a Luis Pazos en Año 13 ya que fue seleccionado como candidato para asistir a la Universidad de Nueva York Campus Abu Dhabi durante un fin de semana. La universidad se encargará de todos sus gastos para poder participar y viajará a Abu Dhabi la próxima semana. El fin de semana como candidato forma parte de un proceso de selección para entrar a la universidad. Buena suerte Luis y te deseamos mucho éxito. La palabra de la semana es “Abu Dhabi”.

Les agradezco mucho a todos los que nos han hecho el favor de apoyarnos en las pláticas promocionales de la escuela. Gracias a la familia Sahagún por la atractiva donación de libros para la biblioteca.

Hay opiniones encontradas acerca de las dos filas para recoger niños. Nos gustaría darle como prueba una semana más. El sistema funciona bien cuando pasan por los niños a tiempo y así se evita que estén en el sol por mucho tiempo.

Algunos recordatorios:

·      El jueves 26 de enero del 2012 será el día que abrimos la escuela a aquellos padres que les interesa ver la escuela más de cerca de 9 a.m. a 12 p.m.

·      Para aquellos que están al corriente con las colegiaturas durante el mes de febrero, podrán disfrutar de un descuento del 10% en la cuota de inscripción para el próximo ciclo escolar.

·      Para poder entrar a la Zona de Padres en nuestro sitio web es necesario que envíen un correo electrónico a Jorge Córdova y él les hará llegar su usuario y contraseña. Su correo es jcordova@bethics.com

·      Quisiera invitar a todos los padres de familia de Secundaria y Prepa quienes acudieron a mi primera plática sobre la Inteligencia Emocional que participen en la segunda parte que se llevará a cabo el viernes 3 de febrero a la 1:45 p.m. en el salón 1010.

·      El 6 de febrero no habrá clases debido a que se conmemora el Día de la Constitución Mexicana, además del 7 para disfrutar de un día de descanso del arduo trabajo realizado durante el segundo período.

El Departamento de Kinder aún necesita llantas de auto o camioneta. Si tienen alguna les agradeceríamos mucho que los envíen a la escuela.

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of you who have been supporting us with our promotional talks.  We will be holding more informative talks on the following days:

o    San Gil – Wednesday 18th January at 9:30am in the Club House, San Gil

o    Ezequiel Montes – Wednesday 25th January at 9:30am in the restaurant ‘El Recuerdo’, Joaquin Vega s/n

Please come along to the talks and invite any friends who may be interested in sending their children to VICTORIA in the future.  If you would like some invitations to give to friends, please contact Lety in Reception. I would also like to request your help displaying a poster about these events. Please let us know where you could put one and it could be sent with your child.

This week we have experimented with an extra line of cars picking up secondary students, outside the gate at 3pm.  This can take double the speed of our traffic flow but is severly hampered by parked cars! So, starting on Monday, secondary students may cross the road and wait outside Vicente Suarez #14 which is Mr & Mrs Nevett’s house. A teacher will be there with them. Parents can easily collect them and exit via the smaller road, avoiding any congestion outside the school gates. Drivers may choose which queue they wish but remember to tell the students in advance so that they know where to wait! Of course Secondary students with younger siblings will still need to be collected inside. 

Important Note: We have received a notification from USEBEQ, advising us to all take precautions against AH1N1 Influenza which is on the rise in other Mexican states.  We would like to remind you of the following:

·         If your child has a fever, cough and/or headache, please take them immediately to a doctor and seek advice as to whether they should come to school. 

·         Use chlorine to clean all surfaces at home.

·         Remind your family to wash their hands regularly.

A few reminders:

Estimados Padres de Familia:

Les agradezco mucho a todos los que nos han hecho el favor de apoyarnos en las pláticas promocionales de la escuela. Habrá más pláticas informativas los siguientes días:

o    San Gil – miércoles 18 de enero a las 9:30 a.m. en la Casa Club del Club de Golf San Gil.

o    Ezequiel Montes – miércoles 25 de enero a las 9:30 a.m. en el restaurant ‘El Recuerdo’, Joaquín Vega s/n.

Por favor vengan a las pláticas e inviten a todos sus amigos interesados en mandar a sus hijos al VICTORIA en el futuro. Si requieren de algunas invitaciones para sus amistades, favor de contactar a Lety en Recepción. También les quisiera pedir su ayuda en poner un cartel acerca de estos eventos. Nos gustaría saber donde lo pudieran exhibir y se les enviará el cartel con sus hijos.

Esta semana se experimentó con un carril extra para recoger a los alumnos de secundaria y prepa a las 3:00 p.m. Esto ocasionó que la circulación no fuera fluida debido a la obstrucción de coches estacionados. Por esta razón, el próximo lunes 16 de enero los alumnos de secundaria y prepa podrán ser recogidos afuera de la casa del Sr. y la Sra. Nevett, Vicente Suárez #14, un profesor los acompañará. De esta forma, sus padres los podrán recoger más fácilmente y tomar el camino angosto hacia la derecha evitando el congestionamiento fuera de las puertas de salida de la escuela.  Ustedes como padres de familia deberán escoger la fila que más les conviene pero por favor informen a sus hijos con tiempo en que fila deberán esperar. Es importante que sepan que las familias que tengan hijos en Secundaria/Prepa con hermanitos en Primaria deberán esperar dentro de la escuela para que los recojan.

Nota Importante: Recibimos noticias de USEBEQ pidiéndonos que tomemos las medidas necesarias de prevención en contra del virus de la influenza AH1N1 el cual está presente en otros estados del país.  Les recordamos las siguientes medidas:

·         Si su hijo presenta fiebre, tos y/o dolor de cabeza favor de llevarlo con su médico de inmediato para estar seguros de que lo pueden mandar a la escuela. 

·         Utilicen cloro en casa para limpiar todas las superficies.

·         Recuérdenle a sus familiares que se laven sus manos regularmente con agua y jabón.

DEAR PARENTS,

I hope that it is not too late to wish a Happy New Year to you all. I know that lots of you had an excellent Christmas break; Luis Rodrigo started his by winning the State Tae Kwon Do Tournament.

Congratulations to the Year 13 Business Studies class who raised $865 pesos for the orphanage in Tequisquiapan just before Christmas. The students sold products during Secondary break time as part of a Business Studies project. They worked incredibly well using their initiative and team work skills to make a profit which will be used to buy a much needed fire extinguisher for the orphanage.

Thank you so much to those of you who donated clothes and shoes to the Otomi community. The items were delivered on December 24^th and they were gratefully received. Your gift made a great Christmas to many people in need!

We would also like to thank all of you who so generously helped the Three Wise Men find their way to the orphanage. Thank you to Mrs. Rábago for helping out with transportation. I am sure all the kids at the home will be more than happy.

Year 2 have had a truly fresh start to 2012 as they have split into 2y and 2b. They share a new teacher, Miss Margarita Quesnel and now occupy rooms 207 and 309. Miss Quesnel came for interview here in February and was on our waiting list for almost a year! We were very happy to invite her to return.

Thank you for all your responses in regards to our traffic system. We also are continually reviewing our organisation and this week we have separated Primary and Secondary waiting areas. In order to improve movement, we feel that Secondary-aged pupils (Years 7 to 13) should be able to leave school via the main gate. We would like to try having two traffic queues waiting side by side. The first queue remains as it is, for parents waiting to pull into school to collect their children. The second queue will run parallel to the first but the cars do not enter school. This second queue is for Secondary pupils only. The pupils will wait near the main gate and walk through the first queue to reach the second, as their parents arrive. Drivers may choose which queue they wish but remember to tell the students in advance so that they know where to wait! Of course Secondary students with younger siblings will still need to be collected inside. The word of the week is ‘safety’.

May I remind you about our January presentations:

·         A reminder that all 2012/13 scholarship applications need to be submitted by 31^st January. This includes the following types of scholarships: Ejido Hacienda Grande, academic and staff scholarships.

After school activities re-start next week. The timetable is attached and you can find new activities among the old favourites. Some of these activities are open to parents as well, just Lety know if you are planning to attend. We also realise that we have many talented parents with valuable skills and would be delighted if you would be willing to offer a class or activity. Once again, please give Lety a call and let her know which day you could come and who your activity would be suitable for.

I wonder if any of your children have told you about the changes in the kiosk; we are very impressed with the refurbishment and extra services!

After so many generous Christmas gifts and donations we are now wondering about your ‘white elephants’ and recycling! The administration is hoping for any 2012 diaries and calendars which you are not using and there is a very strange request from the Primary Department; if any parents, or grandparents, use the Crestor tablets please send in the empty boxes!

As you know many local schools have closed today. Thanks to VICTORIA students who completed the week’s classes. I hope you enjoy a special, family weekend.

CARTA SEMANAL No. 743

Estimados Padres de Familia:

Espero que no sea muy tarde para desearles a todos un Feliz Año Nuevo. Sé que muchos de ustedes tuvieron unas excelentes vacaciones navideñas. Luis Rodrigo inició el año ganando el Torneo Selectivo Estatal de Tae Kwon Do.

Muchas felicidades a los alumnos de Negocios de Año 13 quienes reunieron $865.00 para la Casa Hogar de Tequisquiapan justo antes de Navidad. Los estudiantes vendieron productos durante el recreo de Secundaria y Prepa como parte de un proyecto de su clase. Trabajaron muy bien utilizando su iniciativa y sus habilidades para trabajar en equipo para generar ganancias las cuales se destinarán a comprar un extinguidor para la Casa Hogar.

Les agradecemos mucho a todos los que donaron ropa y zapatos a la comunidad Otomí. Los artículos se entregaron el 24 de diciembre y los recibieron con mucho gusto. Sus donativos se volvieron regalos para una comunidad que realmente los necesitaban.

Muchas gracias a todos aquellos que muy generosamente ayudaron a los Reyes Magos a llegar a la Casa Hogar. Y gracias también a la Sra. Rábago quien muy amablemente ayudó a transportarlos. Seguramente los niños estarán muy felices.

El grupo de Año 2 empezó el año en grande ya que se separó el grupo en 2y y 2b. El grupo comparte una maestra nueva, Miss Margarita Quesnel y están en los salones 207 y 309. Miss Quesnel vino en febrero del año pasado a entrevistarse y estuvo en espera de un puesto casi un año. Estamos muy contentos de haberla invitado a la escuela de nuevo.

Muchas gracias a todos por sus sugerencias a cerca del sistema de tráfico. También estamos revisando continuamente nuestra organización y esta semana separamos las áreas de espera de Secundaria y Prepa de Primaria. Con el fin de mejorar la circulación, sentimos que los alumnos de Secundaria y Prepa (Años 7-13) podrán tener la posibilidad de salir de la escuela por las puertas principales. Nos gustaría intentar con dos filas de coches, uno al lado del otro. La primera fila continua como está, los coches entran a la escuela para recoger a sus hijos. La segunda fila estará paralela a la primera fila pero los autos no entrarán a la escuela. Solamente recogerán a los alumnos de Secundaria y Prepa. Los estudiantes deberán esperar cerca de la puerta principal y atravesarán la primera fila para llegar a llegar a le segunda conforme llegan sus papás. Los padres de familia escogerán la fila pero deben avisarles a sus hijos con tiempo para que ellos sepan en donde esperar. Es importante que sepan que las familias con hijos en Secundaria/Prepa con hermanos en Primaria deberán recogerse dentro de la escuela. La palabra de la semana es ‘seguridad’.

Las actividades extra-curriculares inician la próxima semana. Encontrarán el horario con su carta semanal y podrán ver algunas actividades nuevas además de las favoritas de siempre. Hay actividades abiertas para padres de familia, solo deben de avisarle a Lety en Recepción que quieren asistir. También nos damos cuenta que hay padres de familia con habilidades de mucho valor y nos gustaría mucho que pudieran ofrecer una clase o actividad. De nuevo les pedimos que se acerquen a la recepción con Lety y le digan que día pueden dar su actividad y hacia quien está dirigida.

Espero que sus hijos les hayan platicado de los cambios en la Tiendita. Estamos impresionados con los cambios físicos y con los servicios adicionales.

Ante todos los donativos y regalos tan generosos esta Navidad, nos preguntamos qué harán con esos ’elefantes blancos’ y el reciclaje. La oficina Administrativa amablemente les pide si pueden donar las agendas y calendarios que no utilicen; Primaria tiene una petición un poco extraña, si ustedes como padres de familia o abuelos utilizan tabletas Crestor, ¿podrán enviarnos las cajas vacías por favor?

Cómo se habrán dado cuenta, muchas escuelas de la zona no laboraron el día de hoy 6 de enero. Gracias a los alumnos del VICTORIA que asistieron para completar la semana de clases. Deseo disfruten de un fin de semana especial en compañía de su familia.
