Dear Parents,

Congratulations to the VICTORIA Secondary and Prepa football team who played a game against Querenda and won 4-2!

Thank you so much to the Parents’ Association for hosting a great barbecue on Friday night. We thoroughly enjoyed it! We would also like to say thank you to the family who provided us with a delicious lunch on Thursday!

Thank you to the Ejido Hacienda Grande families for throwing us a wonderful party on Saturday. Everyone had a fantastic time.  We really appreciate your hard work in organising such a delightful event.

Many thanks to David Dorantes who kindly gave the VICTORIA staff and parents a discount card for the Plaza Pedregal cinema and a card for the casino with credit. Thank you!

Thank you to Miss Cheng and Mr Cuevas for taking Year 5 to Il Sapore restaurant where they made pizzas with blindfolds on.  This activity was linked to their literacy work on Helen Keller. The students also interviewed the Il Sapore staff and will be writing reports about them in school. Thank you to Il Sapore for making it such a successful and enjoyable trip!

The Years 8, 9 and 10 “Big Camp” returned last night just before dark. Everybody found it completely different form previous camps. The staff at Rancho Viejo were extremely enthusiastic and commented on the good behaviour and abilities of VICTORIA students. Everyone, students and staff, thoroughly enjoyed their experiences.

Congratulations to Arnaldo Ramírez Gómez, for his participation in Olimpiada de Competencias Básicas, State Stage.

We have a wonderful surprise prepared for Something Different week since we will be making alebrijes as a part of our planned activities. Since we only have three days, these handicrafts will be simple but very beautiful. Experts in cardboard who have taught courses in Montreal, Canada will be coming to our school. We do need your support for this particular activity, so we ask you to please send in newspaper and empty cereal boxes. There will be 140 individual students making alebrijes therefore we need lots of cereal boxes from now until the 25th June. We thank all of you in advance since we know we can count on your support.
The Estancia del Migrante González y Martínez A.C. (http://es-es.facebook.com/pages/Estancia-del-Migrante-Gonz%C3%A1lez-y-Mart%C3%ADnez-AC/176626635748459) are looking for donations. Bottles of water (500ml or 1l) are their main priority but they are also in need of clothes, shoes and socks (especially male sizes), blankets, toilet paper and non-perishable food. If you have an item to donate please leave it in Reception with Lety and they will be collected on Friday 1st June. If anyone would like to donate some money to Estancia del Migrante González y Martínez A.C. their bank details are: Banamex, Suc.7001, Cta. 4691829.

We are looking for 14 parents to support us in school during the Primary and Secondary ENLACE exams which run from Monday 4th June until Thursday 7th June. Please contact Lety if you are able to help. Thank you!

We have added some documents to the Spanish Parent Area of our website. They give information about bullying and emotional intelligence. Thank you to Ana Colores for providing them.
Some reminders:

• Our “Live Art” event takes place this Sunday (27th May) in Ezequiel Montes in front of the church in the main plaza from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It is great fun for all ages and we hope to see as many of you there as possible!

CARTA SEMANAL No.  761

Viernes 25 de mayo del 2012.

Estimados Padres de Familia:

¡Muchas felicidades a nuestro equipo de fútbol de Secundaria y Prepa, quienes ganaron a Querenda 4 - 2!
Les damos las gracias a la Asociación de Padres de Familia por la carne asada del viernes por la noche.

¡Nos la pasamos muy bien! También le queremos agradecer mucho a la familia que nos envió un delicioso bocadillo el jueves pasado.

Un agradecimiento a todas las familias del Ejido Hacienda Grande. Nos ofrecieron una excelente fiesta el sábado de la semana pasada. Nos divertimos muchísimo. Apreciamos mucho todo su trabajo al organizar tan agradable evento.

El Sr. David Dorantes amablemente ofreció a todo el personal del VICTORIA y a los padres de familia un descuento en el cine de Plaza Pedregal y una tarjeta con crédito para el casino. ¡Muchas gracias!

Otro agradecimiento a Miss Cheng y Mr Cuevas por llevar a Año 5 al restaurante Il Sapore, donde hicieron pizzas con los ojos vendados. Esta actividad está ligada con el trabajo de literatura acerca de Helen Keller. Los alumnos también entrevistaron al personal del restaurante y escribirán reportes con estas entrevistas. Muchas gracias al Il Sapore por hacer de la visita todo un éxito y que fuera tan agradable experiencia.
El Gran Campamento de Años 8, 9 y 10 fue totalmente diferente a los anteriores. El personal del Rancho Viejo se mostró muy entusiasmado y complacido por el buen comportamiento y las habilidades mostradas por los alumnos de VICTORIA. Tanto los alumnos como el personal disfrutaron a fondo las experiencias vividas.

Tenemos una grata sorpresa para la “Semana Diferente” este año ya que, además de otras actividades, haremos alebrijes. Como sólo contaremos con tres días, serán sencillos pero quedarán hermosos. Vendrán profesionales en cartonería, que incluso han dado cursos en Montreal, Canadá. Para ello necesitamos de su apoyo: requerimos periódico para cubrir los pisos y cajas de cereal para los alebrijes. Serán 140 alumnos haciendo esta artesanía en forma individual así que solicitamos muchas cajas de cereal, que serán recolectadas durante todos estos días hasta el 25 de junio. Sabiendo que contamos con el apoyo de todos ustedes, de antemano les damos las gracias.
