ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:
Muchas felicidades a todos los alumnos de Secundaria y Prepa que participaron en la Noche Musical el viernes de la semana pasada. ¡El evento fue todo un éxito! Le agradecemos mucho a Mr Duncombe, Mr Uribe, Mr Felsman, Mr Nevett y Mrs Gilby por su apoyo.
Daniela, de Año 2, regresó de Irapuato contándonos de su éxito en la competencia de gimnasia que tuvo lugar el fin de semana pasado. Felicidades a Constanza, Kikis, Jimena, María, Regina, Valeria, Nicole, Lupita and Daniela (Año 1) quienes también participaron en este evento. Las alumnas Fátima y Melina compitieron en natación en la alberca Albatros. ¡Muy bien hecho a todas!
El grupo de año 8 visitó este lunes 20 de junio la empresa Sayer Lack de México. Fue una gran experiencia de aprendizaje. Queremos agradecer a la empresa por su hospitalidad, a Mrs Pallares, Mr Uribe, Mrs Monjaraz y a todo el personal de VICTORIA que hizo posible esta visita.
Los alumnos de Año 12 se encuentran en Veracruz esta semana con Mr Nevett, Mr Felsman y Miss Ochoa. Además de trabajar en sus propios proyectos, los que preparan y planean antes de partir, estudian los manglares, imparten clase en la escuela local y juegan fútbol contra ellos. También esperan poder realizar carreras de cangrejos y liberar tortuguitas al mar.
El jueves de esta semana el equipo de profesores de español de Primaria, pasó el día trabajando, desarrollando el plan de trabajo para el siguiente año escolar. Muchas gracias a Mrs Gómez por encargarse del taller.
Con todo y que ya estamos por terminar el ciclo escolar y tener muchas salidas programadas, seguimos recibiendo varios niños para días de prueba. Los grupos se están llenando y algunos se van a dividir en dos. Si no lo han hecho, por favor confirmen el lugar de sus hijos para el siguiente año académico.
Como ya saben, este fue el segundo año en que muchos de nuestros alumnos participan en el Día Mundial de Matemáticas. Después de que el año pasado nos afectó la saturación y caída de las páginas web, esta vez se asignó como tarea. A algunos de nuestros alumnos les fue muy bien y obtuvieron certificados, a Año 6 le fue especialmente bien y recibieron membrecías gratuitas a Matléticas hasta terminar el ciclo escolar. Lo más notable fue que varios padres de familia reportaron lo entusiastas que estuvieron sus hijos y las horas que quisieron dedicar a sus tareas.
Ahora tenemos una oferta de Matléticas; si 40 de nuestros alumnos quisieran hacerse miembros tenemos un precio especial de $200.00. Favor de incluir una nota en el diario de su hijo/a si les interesa y los registraremos en el grupo correcto antes de terminar el mes de junio.
Les recordamos que ya no habrá actividades curriculares la próxima semana.
Con este fin de ciclo tan ocupado y el campamento de la Semana Diferente, me gustaría darles un avance de las juntas de padres de familia y estudiantes para el nuevo ciclo académico.

DEAR PARENTS,
Congratulations to all the Secondary and Prepa students who participated in Music Night last Friday, it was a great success. Thanks to Mr Duncombe, Mr Uribe, Mr Felsman, Mr Nevett and Mrs Gilby for helping with the event.
Daniela, in Yr 2, came to tell us of her success in a gymnastics competition in Irapuato last weekend. Congratulations also to Constanza, Kikis, Jimena, Maria, Regina, Valeria, Nicole, Lupita and Daniela (Yr 1) who participated in the same event. Fatima and Melina were involved in a swimming competition at the Albatross pool. Well done to all of you!
On Monday 20th June Yr 8 made a visit to Sayer Lack de México. It was a great learning experience. We would like to thank the company for their hospitality, Mrs Pallares, Mr Uribe, Mrs Monjaraz as well as all the VICTORIA staff who made the trip possible.
Yr 12 are in the state of Veracruz this week with Mr Nevett, Mr Felsman and Miss Ochoa. As well as their own projects which the students plan and prepare for in advance, they study the mangrove swamps, teach the children in the local school and play them at football. They also hope to be able to race crabs and launch baby turtles for their very first swim!
On Thursday the Primary Spanish team spent the day working on the curriculum for next year. Thank you to Mrs Gomez for running this workshop.
Even so near to the end of term, with so many trips, out we are receiving many more day trial students this year. Groups are filling up and some are being split into two. If you have not already done so, please confirm your place/s for next academic year.
As most of our students know, this was our second year participating in World Maths Day. After the overloaded and crashing web-sites, which affected our performance last year, it was only set as homework this time. Some of our students did very well and got certificates, Yr 6 did especially well and received free membership of Mathletics until the end of this academic year. Most noticeably lots of parents reported how enthusiastic their children had been and how many hours they had wanted to put into their homework!
We do now have an offer from Mathletics; if 40 of our students would like to join, it would be at the special price of $200.00. Please put a note in the diary, today, if you are interested and we could register them in the correct age group before the end of June.
A reminder, there will be no after school activities next week.
With such a busy end of term and the Something Different Week Camp next week, I would like to give you advance notice of the meetings for parents and students at the beginning of the new term.

Classes start on Wednesday 24th.
Every year we receive dozens of requests for scholarships. We have now formalised our scholarship guidelines and have published them on our website so that you can read about the process in either English or Spanish.
