Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of you who came to our Prepa meetings at Las Cavas this week. I hope that you were able to get a good understanding of how our Prepa system works. I would like to remind you all to please return the signed Reglamento Interno.

Year 3 had an excellent excursion to the Wameru Zoo on Wednesday where they studied the animals and took a train ride around the zoo. Thank you to all the parents who supported us with transport and during the trip.

The Secondary girl’s football team played the Escuela Técnica 11 in the Copa Coca Cola last Saturday and played a wonderful game winning 3-2! They played again on Tuesday of this week against La Laja Secondary from Cadereyta and won 9-0. Well done! We wish them good luck in their game today; they are playing the Plancarte school in the semi- finals of the Copa Coca Cola at 12 pm in San Juan del Rio!

Many thanks to all of you who donated cakes for Cake Day. We all enjoyed ourselves trying out the various recipes and $5,500 was raised for the cricket trip to El Salvador. The word of the week is cake.

Congratulations to the Moreno Pino family who, when asked to replace a lost library book, went 'overboard'! They not only found another book about the Titanic, they chose it from the Penguin Active Reading series with a comprehensive range of activities suitable for Primary English work. An excellent purchase, thank you.

On Saturday 15th December we are having an Old Victorian reunion at Rancho El 7 at 7pm. The price is $300 and it includes food, music, corkage and the tip. Guests need to bring what they want to drink with them. If you know of anyone who is interested in coming to this event then please ask them to deposit the money into Oliva Borbolla’s account (Bancomer, Oliva Borbolla Gutiérrez, Card number: 4152 3122 2912 9926, Account number: 2790363359) and send her an email to let her know that you have made the deposit at oliva.borbolla@gmail.com

The Monday extra-curricular swimming activity will be suspended until the temperature is more suitable. We will let you know when it is about to restart.

We would also like to thank all of you who donated clothes for the Mixe community in Oaxaca. We have 36 sweaters and jackets that they will make excellent use of.

On Monday 5th November we have representatives from UVM coming to school to talk to the students about University Life.

 

The HPV vaccine for yrs. 5, 6 and 7 was postponed. We do not have the new date since it is not programmed by VICTORIA. We will let you know the new date as soon as we have it.

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:

Les agradecemos mucho a todos aquellos que asistieron a las juntas de Prepa en el Hotel Las Cavas esta semana. Espero que hayamos logrado transmitirles como funciona el sistema de Prepa en VICTORIA. Les pido que por favor nos hagan llegar firmado el Reglamento Interno.

El miércoles, Año 3 visitó el Zoológico Wamerú donde estudiaron a los animales e hicieron un recorrido del zoológico en tren. Gracias a todos los padres de familia que nos apoyaron con el transporte.

El equipo de fútbol femenil de Secundaria jugó en contra de la Escuela Técnica 11 el sábado pasado en la Copa Coca Cola y ganaron 3-2. Tuvieron otro partido el martes de esta semana en contra de la Secundaria La Laja de Cadereyta y ganaron 9-0. ¡Felicidades! Les deseamos mucha suerte porque hoy juegan en la semi-final de la Copa Coca Cola en contra del Instituto Plancarte a las 12 p.m. en San Juan del Rio.

Muchísimas gracias a todos los que nos hicieron favor de donar pasteles y postres para el Día del Pastel. Gozamos de deliciosos postres y logramos juntar $5,500.00 pesos para el viaje de cricket a El Salvador. La palabra de la semana es pastel.

¡Queremos felicitar a la familia Moreno Pino ya que al pedirles que repusieran un libro extraviado de la biblioteca, nos sorprendieron! No solo encontraron el libro acerca del Titanic, sino que escogieron un ejemplar de la serie Lectura Activa Penguin con una variedad de actividades para la comprensión de lectura adecuada para el trabajo que hacemos en inglés de Primaria. Una excelente compra, muchas gracias.

El sábado 15 de diciembre es nuestra reunión para Ex-Victorianos en el Rancho El 7 a las 7 p.m. El costo es de $300.00 pesos e incluye la cena, música, descorche y la propina. Los invitados deberán traer la botella que desean beber a la fiesta. La actividad extra-curricular de natación de los días lunes se suspende hasta que el clima sea más favorable. Les avisaremos con tiempo cuando reiniciará.

El lunes 5 de noviembre nos visitan representantes de la UVM para dar una plática a nuestros estudiantes acerca de la vida universitaria. 

Se pospuso la vacuna del VPH para Años 5, 6 y 7. Aún no tenemos la fecha ya que no es algo que el VICTORIA programa. En cuanto tengamos la nueva fecha les avisaremos.

Dear Parents,

We had a very energetic Sports Day on Tuesday. It is a truly special event where the whole school comes to together to participate in a variety of competitions. Well done to the Yellow team who came first but more importantly well done to everyone who participated with all their enthusiasm and team spirit! Thank you to the Parents’ Association (PA) for providing the well-deserved refreshments!

A mixed party of staff and friends were very energetic last weekend! They visited and climbed the beautiful Nevado de Toluca volcanic crater. This was a preliminary visit for our annual year 12 & 13 trip there and proved to be a very enjoyable day in glorious weather.

The Secondary girls and boys football teams play in the Copa Coca Cola tomorrow Saturday 20th October at 9:20am at the Unidad in San Juan del Río. Please accompany our players and show your support. Good luck!

Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising events this week. Everybody enjoyed Hamburger Day on Wednesday and Crazy Clothes Day on Friday! Money raised will be going towards the cricketers and the Tequisquiapan orphanage. The Mexican Cricket Association is running another event on Thursday 25th October called Cake Day where they will be selling a variety of different cakes and desserts for $10 a slice.

Our year 12 and 13 students received a talk from the EBC University on Wednesday where they were able to find out more about the courses and scholarships available.

I was very proud to attend the ceremony on Wednesday when Tequisquiapan became the 61st town in Mexico to be awarded Magic Town status. We are the 4th town in Queretaro to receive this award and I am excited about the opportunities that this will bring to Tequisquiapan. The word of the week is magic.

Our year 11 Design and Technology students had a very informative trip to Xantico furniture workshop at Carretera San Juan del Rio - Tequisquiapan 22. They were shown examples of the types of furniture made and were impressed by the quality of the work. They were then given a demonstration of the design process which fitted perfectly with the theory in the IGCSE course. In the workshop they saw many precision machines for preparing, cutting and joining wooden components. A range of unusual woods are used in the construction, giving students an opportunity to widen their experience. Finally they were taken to the finishing area where the furniture is sealed, stained and varnished or painted. The staff of Xantico was excellent and knowledgeable, answering all the students' questions and demonstrating a world of expertise and experience. We owe them a huge thank you.

Some of our year 10 and 11 music students visited the UAQ today where they had the opportunity to work on their individual compositions and to work with other students to analyse pieces by Mozart and Beethoven which form a core part of the IGCSE curriculum.

A number of our year 7 students have been sitting the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint exams this week. This is the first time that we have entered students for the exams and we are keen to assess how we are doing in terms of achieving the Cambridge objectives for Primary Maths, Science and English. Our year 13 students sat their Cambridge AS Thinking Skills exam on Thursday, a test which draws on their ability to problem solve and analyse scenarios.

We are sorry that we have had to postpone The Big Draw event due to difficulties with the timings of firing the clay pieces. However, everything will be ready for exhibition on Friday 30th November from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at La Moraleja, located next to the post office in the centre of Tequisquiapan. We look forward to seeing you there.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the FRIENDS (www.amistadparasiempre.com) course that we will be hosting in VICTORIA. If we have more than 20 participants (which is likely) then the cost will be $1500 each. You would need to attend two sessions on two separate days. The first session will be from 8am until 12pm on Thursday 15th November for everybody; the second session will be from 8am until 12pm for Primary and Secondary teachers and parents; on Friday 16th November is the last session for Kinder teachers and parents from 1pm until 5pm. Please let Lety in Reception know if you would like to attend. Remember that Thursday 15th November is a training morning for teachers therefore school will be closed in the morning so you would have to make childcare arrangements to attend the course and then we have parent/teacher meetings in the afternoon.

Many of you have expressed the need for a shade over our basketball court. We have been looking into different designs and asking for quotes. It is a very expensive project and we want the design to be aesthetically pleasing. If you have any ideas for a design and how we could work together to raise the money then please email me at direccionkt_ibv@prodigy.net.mx or alternatively make an appointment with Lety Ochoa to see me. Thank you!

On Friday 26th October we will have our Hallowe’en Party from 5.30pm – 9pm. If you have not paid your yearly PA fee of $500 then the entry charge will be $25 pesos. Please come dressed up and enjoy the party! If you arrive without a costume then there is a $5 fine by the Student Council and they will paint your face! If you refuse to have your face painted then there is a fine of $25. The PA will be selling Hallowe’en goods during 3rd break and after school as of Monday next week until Friday 26th October. From Monday 19th to Friday 23rd November it is anti-bullying week in all UK schools. We will also be using this week to raise awareness about bullying through carrying out a number of activities designed to help children and young people identify and manage bullying. I will be spending the week working with pupils in the classroom and I will also be offering a talk to parents which will focus on how you can help your children to deal with bullying. I will write more information about the week’s activities soon.

Some reminders:

• Next week we will have informative meetings for parents of students in Prepa at Las Cavas Hotel at 9am. Please don’t miss these meetings since we’ll be giving you information you need to know. The dates are: year 10, Monday 22nd October; year 11, Tuesday 23rd October; year 12 &13, Wednesday 23rd.

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:

Nuestro Día Deportivo el martes estuvo lleno de energía. Es verdaderamente un evento especial en el que toda la escuela se reúne para participar en varias competencias. ¡Felicidades al equipo Amarillo por su primer lugar pero lo más importante es felicitar a todos por su participación con entusiasmo y espíritu de equipo! Gracias a la Asociación de Padres de Familia (APF) por apoyar con los refrigerios.

¡Un grupo de personal de la escuela y amigos tuvo un disparo de energía el fin de semana pasado! Visitaron y escalaron el bello cráter del Nevado de Toluca. Este fue un viaje preliminar a la visita que realizarán los alumnos de Años 12 y 13 donde el día resultó muy agradable con un clima increíble.

Los equipos de fútbol femenil y varonil de Secundaria juegan en la Copa Coca Cola mañana sábado 20 de octubre a las 9:20 a.m. en la Unidad en San Juan del Río. Por favor vayan al juego para apoyarlos. ¡Mucha suerte!

Muchas gracias a todos los que apoyaron nuestros eventos para recaudar fondos esta semana. A todos les gustó el Día de Hamburguesas (miércoles) y el Día de Ropa Loca (viernes). El dinero recaudado está destinado a los jugadores de cricket y la Casa Hogar de Tequisquiapan. La Asociación Mexicana de Cricket está organizando otro evento para el jueves 25 de octubre, llamado Día de Pastel, donde ofrecerán pasteles y postres de varios tipos a $10.00 pesos la rebanada.

La Universidad EBC vino el miércoles a dar una plática a nuestros alumnos de Años 12 y 13 y tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer más acerca de los cursos y becas que la universidad ofrece.

Me dio mucho gusto asistir el miércoles a la ceremonia donde se le declaró a Tequisquiapan el 61o pueblo en México con categoría Pueblo Mágico. Somos el cuarto pueblo en Querétaro en recibir este nombramiento y me emocionan mucho las oportunidades que esto le traerá a Tequisquiapan.

Los alumnos de Año 11 cursando Diseño y Tecnología realizaron una visita muy informativa a la mueblería Xantico que se encuentra en la Carretera San Juan del Rio - Tequisquiapan 22. Pudieron ver muestras de diferentes tipos de muebles que fabrican y se impresionaron con la calidad del trabajo que se realiza. Se les hizo una demostración del proceso de diseño el cual encaja perfectamente a la teoría de su curso IGCSE. En el taller vieron máquinas de precisión usadas para preparar, cortar y unir componentes de madera. Se utilizan una variedad de maderas exóticas en la construcción y les da a los alumnos una oportunidad de ampliar su experiencia. Al final, se les enseñó el área de terminado donde los muebles se sellan, entintan y barnizan o pintan. El personal de Xantico fue muy amable y tenían mucho conocimiento al contestar las inquietudes de los alumnos y demostraron mucha experiencia. Les agradecemos mucho su tiempo.

Algunos de nuestros estudiantes de música de Años 10 y 11 visitaron la UAQ hoy donde tuvieron la oportunidad de trabajar en sus composiciones individuales. Además trabajaron con otros estudiantes en el análisis de piezas de Mozart y Beethoven los cuales forman una parte central del programa de estudios del IGCSE.

Varios alumnos de Año 7 han estado tomando el examen de Revisión de Cambridge en Primaria esta semana. Es la primera vez que hemos registrado a alumnos para estos exámenes y nos interesa mucho valorar nuestro desempeño con los objetivos de Cambridge en matemáticas, ciencia e inglés en Primaria. Los estudiantes de Año 13 tomaron el examen de Habilidades de Pensamiento nivel AS de Cambridge el jueves. Este examen pone en funcionamiento su habilidad para resolver y analizar escenarios.

Una disculpa por tener que posponer el evento del Big Draw. Esto fue debido a dificultades con los horarios para hornear las piezas de arcilla. Sin embargo, todo estará listo para el día de la exhibición, viernes 30 de noviembre de 6:30 a 8:30pm en La Moraleja; ubicado a un lado de la Oficina de Correos en el centro de Tequisquiapan. Nos dará mucho gusto verlos es día.

Hace algunas semanas les informé acerca del curso AMISTAD POR SIEMPRE (www.amistadparasiempre.com) del cual somos anfitriones. Si logramos tener a más de 20 participantes (muy factible) el costo será de $1500.00 por persona. Sería necesario asistir a dos sesiones en dos días diferentes. La primera sesión es para todos el jueves 15 de noviembre de 8 a.m. a 12 p.m.; la segunda sesión es el viernes 16 de noviembre de 8 a.m. a 12 p.m. para maestros de Primaria y Secundaria y padres de familia; y de 1 p.m. a 5 p.m. para maestros de Kinder y padres de familia. Por favor contacten a Lety en Recepción si quieren asistir. Les recuerdo que el viernes 15 de noviembre será una mañana de capacitación para los maestros y no habrá clases, seguido en la tarde por juntas de padres de familia con maestros por lo que tendrán que arreglar que sus hijos tengan con quien quedarse en casa mientras asisten al curso.

Muchos de ustedes nos han expresado que la escuela requiere de una sombra para la cancha de básquet. Estamos viendo varios diseños y pidiendo cotizaciones. Es un proyecto con un alto costo y queremos que el diseño se agradable estéticamente. El viernes 26 de octubre tendremos nuestra Fiesta de Hallowe’en de 5:30 p.m. a 9 p.m. Si aún no realizan el pago anual de $500.00 pesos para la APF, el costo de la entrada será de $25.00 pesos. Por favor vengan disfrazados y disfruten de la fiesta. El Consejo Estudiantil les cobrará una multa de $5.00 pesos si vienen sin disfraz y les pintará la cara. Si no quieren que les pinten la cara, se le cobrará una multa de $25.00. La APF estará viendo cositas para Hallowe’en durante el tercer break a partir del lunes 22 de octubre hasta el viernes 26. Del lunes 19 al viernes 23 de noviembre es la semana anti-bullying en todas las escuelas en el Reino Unido. Estaremos usando esta semana para concientizar a nuestra comunidad del bullying y llevaremos a cabo varias actividades diseñadas a ayudar a niños y adolecentes identificar y manejar el bullying. Durante la semana, estaré trabajando con los alumnos en sus salones y estaré ofreciendo una plática a los padres de familia la cual se enfocará en cómo ayudar a sus hijos para manejar el bullying. Les estaré dando más información acerca de las actividades de la semana muy pronto.

• La próxima semana tendremos unas juntas informativas para padres de familia de alumnos en Prepa en el Hotel Las Cavas a las 9 a.m. Por favor no falten ya que se les dará información muy importante. Las fechas son: Año 10, lunes 22 de octubre; Año 11, martes 23 de octubre; Años 12 y 13, miércoles 23 de octubre.

Dear Parents,

We have had a tremendously busy week here at VICTORIA and have lots of exciting activities to report!

Many thanks to all the families and students who organised the Cricket fundraising event at Las Cavas last Friday. The evening went extremely well. Delicious food and great music was enjoyed by all! We look forward to more fundraisers!

Many congratulations to our Secondary girls who won their first match in the Copa Coca Cola last Saturday. Our girls played the Escuela Tecnica 19 and won 5-1. Well done! Both our boys and girls teams are playing tomorrow morning (Saturday 13th October) at the Unidad in San Juan del Rio.

Our Primary boys football team visited the local Otomi Community near Cadereyta and had a good match on Tuesday; the final score was 2-4. As well as playing football, they went to a working quarry and received a handmade gift from the other team.

Years 4, 5 & 6 went on Thursday to EXPOCYTEQ, the science and technology fair. It was a wonderful trip! Kids participated in lots of exciting activities and they returned to school with a handful of interesting projects. I want to congratulate all of the students on their excellent behaviour and for representing VICTORIA so well. Many, many thanks to all the teachers and assistants who supervised the small groups.

Our year 8 group did a tour of the Legends in downtown Querétaro where they met the Zacatecana and the Llorona. From there they visited the Cerro de las Campanas and the Magic from the Past Museum. We would like to thank Jeanette Blanchet, Rocío Vela, Andrea Nieves and Manuel Gamboa for accompanying us.

On Monday representatives from the Anáhuac University came to visit the school to give a talk to Yr 12 & 13 students about university life and career options at the Anahuac. Yr 13 has also been taking a course with the Tec de Monterrey this week. In our agreement with the Tec, they send a teacher to VICTORIA to prepare our students for the entrance exam which was held today. It was a tough week as the course ran from 3:30pm – 7:30pm every day.

On Friday 19th October the Student Council is organising ‘Crazy Clothes Day’. Students will be allowed to dress as they wish, the crazier the better but please ensure that they do not wear inappropriate footwear – we don’t want any accidents! If they wish to dress up they need to pay a minimum of $20 for the day. Half the money received will be donated to the Orphanage in Tequisquiapan and the other half will go towards the Cricket fund to help pay for our three students to participate in the International Tournament in El Salvador.

We would like to invite the VICTORIA community to collect sweaters and jackets to help out our fellow countrymen from the Mixe Community in Tlahuitoltepec Oaxaca. They always wear their traditional clothing which is why we are only asking for something they can wear on top to better protect themselves from the cold weather. If you have sweaters or jackets at home that you no longer use, please leave them in Reception with Lety. We´ll be collecting until 26th October. Thank you very much for your help!

The Art Department is looking for a wide range of coloured plastic bags. It doesn't matter what size and shape, as long as they are plastic and are colourful. The 'Big Draw' activities have been a huge success again this year and VICTORIA would like to invite you to the exhibition on Friday 19th October, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at La Moraleja, located next to the post office in the centre of Tequisquiapan.

Don’t forget it is Sports Day on Tuesday 16th October. School will therefore finish at midday and the buses will leave at that time. For new families this is an annual event and is for the students of the school. The PA will provide refreshments at break but please ensure that your child brings their normal lunch, water bottle (with their name on it), a cap and sunblock.

Once again we are sending home the Baker Books catalogues, which we think are offering even better value for money this time! Please look through them with your children and send the order forms and payment into school any day next week. Lety will be happy to take your orders for these quality books. The word of the week is reading.

We will be limiting the number of advertisements that we attach to our newsletters to two a week. If you would like to include an ad then you need to contact Lety Ochoa or Gloria Sánchez who will confirm which date it will go out.

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:

¡Esta semana estuvo muy ocupada y tenemos muchas actividades que reportar!

Muchas gracias a todas las familias que organizaron el evento del viernes pasado en Las Cavas para recaudar fondos para cricket. La noche estuvo muy agradable acompañada de deliciosa comida y excelente música donde todos se divirtieron. ¡Ojalá haya más de este tipo de eventos!

Mucha felicidades a nuestro equipo femenil de fút de Secundaria quienes ganaron su primer partido de la Copa Coca el sábado de la semana pasada en contra de la Escuela Técnica 19 y ganaron 5-1. ¡Bien hecho! Ambos equipos, femenil y varonil de Secundaria, juegan mañana 13 de octubre en la Unidad en San Juan del Río.

El equipo de fút de Primaria visitó la comunidad Otomí local cerca de Cadereyta donde tuvieron un buen partido; el marcador final fue 2-4. Luego fueron a la cantera y recibieron un regalo hecho a mano por parte del otro equipo.

Años 4, 5 y 6 fueron a la feria de ciencia y tecnología, EXPOCYTEQ, el jueves de esta semana. ¡Fue un viaje increíble! Los niños participaron en muchas actividades y regresaron a la escuela con varios proyectos para desarrollar. Quiero felicitar a todos los estudiantes por su buena conducta y por representar al VICTORIA de esta manera. Quiero también darles las gracias a todos los maestros y asistentes que nos acompañaron a supervisar los grupos pequeños.

El grupo de año 8 hizo un recorrido de Leyendas en el centro de Querétaro, donde tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer a La Zacatecana y a La Llorona. De ahí fueron al Cerro de las Campanas y al Museo Magia del Pasado. Queremos agradecer la ayuda de Jeanette Blanchet, Rocío Vela, Andrea Nieves y Manuel Gamboa.

El lunes, representantes de la Universidad Anáhuac visitaron la escuela para dar una plática con Años 12 y 13 acerca de la vida universitaria y las opciones de carrera que tienen disponibles. Durante la semana, Año 13 estuvo tomando un curso con el Tec de Monterrey. Como parte de nuestro acuerdo con el Tec, ellos nos mandan a un maestro para preparar a nuestros alumnos para tomar el examen de admisión el cual se aplicó el día de hoy. Fue una semana pesada para los alumnos ya que el curso era todos los días de 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

El Consejo Estudiantil está organizando ‘Viernes Loco’ para el 19 de octubre. Los alumnos podrán venir vestidos como quieran, entre más loco mejor, pero asegúrense que traigan zapatos adecuados - no queremos accidentes. Si sus hijos quieren venir vestidos alocadamente para ese día, tendrán que pagar un mínimo de $20.00 pesos. De lo recaudado, la mitad se donará a la Casa Hogar de Tequisquiapan y la otra mitad se usará para el fondo de cricket para ayudar a pagar la participación de nuestros 3 alumnos en el Torneo de Cricket Internacional.

Estamos invitando a toda la familia VICTORIA a realizar una colecta de suéteres y chamarras, para ayudar a pasar un mejor invierno a nuestros hermanos indígenas de la comunidad mixe de Tlahuitoltepec Oaxaca, ellos utilizan traje típico, por lo que no se solicita otro tipo de ropa, solamente algo para cubrirse del frio. Si tienes en tu casa suéteres o chamarras en buenas condiciones y que ya no vayas a utilizar, puedes dejarlos en Recepción con Lety, los estaremos juntando hasta el 26 de octubre. Por tu apoyo y participación ¡muchas gracias!

El Departamento de Arte busca bolsas de plástico de colores llamativos. No importa el tamaño ni la forma de la bolsa, con tal de que sean de plástico y de colores. Las actividades para el 'Big Draw' han sido un gran éxito de nuevo este año y el VICTORIA los invita a la exhibición el viernes 19 de octubre de 6:30 p.m. a 8:30 p.m. en La Moraleja, ubicado a un lado de la oficina de correos en el centro de Tequisquiapan.

No se les vaya olvidar que es el ‘Día Deportivo’ el martes 16 de octubre. Habrá escuela hasta medio día y los camiones salen a esa hora. Para todos aquellos que son nuevos al VICTORIA, esto es un evento anual y se organiza para los estudiantes. Durante el día, la Asociación de Padres de Familia prepara bebidas a los alumnos en los recreos y les pedimos que se aseguren que sus hijos traigan su lunch normal, una botella de agua con su nombre y bloqueador.

Ya llegaron los catálogos de los Libros Baker, con aún mejores precios, y de nuevo los estamos enviando con sus hijos a casa. Por favor vean la selección de libros con sus hijos y manden los formatos de pedidos y el dinero a la escuela cualquier día de la próxima semana. Lety con gusto recibirá sus pedidos para estos excelentes libros en Recepción. La palabra de la semana es lectura.

Estamos limitando el número de volantes que se adjuntan a la carta semanal a dos por semana. Si quieren que se incluya su volante con la carta, por favor hablen a la escuela con Lety Ochoa o Gloria Sánchez para confirmar la fecha en la que podrá salir.

Weekly Newsletter / Carta Semanal 773

Friday 5th October 2012 

Dear Parents,

We have had two incredibly successful camping trips recently. Our year 11 students and their teachers had a great time last week in Huasca, Hidalgo, where they visited Prismas Basálticas, trekked through the forest at night, walked through canyons and enjoyed zip-lining! Our year 7s had an incredible time this week at Xochitla where they splashed around in a mud bath and were very happy with all the other wonderful, integrating activities. Thank you to all the teachers who organised and accompanied both year groups to their camps!

Our Kinder pupils had an excellent day last Friday sharing a variety of activities with their parents. They played cooperative game on the field, made arts and crafts and shared a delicious lunch. Thank you very much to everybody for coming and making it such a special day!

On Tuesday our year 12 and 13 students went to the University Fair at the JFK School in Queretaro. They had the very valuable opportunity of talking to representatives from universities all over the world which will help them with the process of choosing what and where to study at university.

Our students have had a very creative time working with clay this week. We are looking forward to displaying their achievements on Friday 19th October at The Big Draw exhibition which will be held at La Moraleja.

The local orphanage is requesting your participation. Tickets are on sale for a fundraiser luncheon in order to build a house on their piece of land. The luncheon is on 21 October at Lomas Verdes s/n Ampliación López Mateos. You can buy your tickets for $60 pesos from Lety in Reception.

We will be holding meetings for parents of our Prepa students in order to explain our Prepa system in more detail. It is very important that you attend these meetings. They will be held at 9 am in Las Cavas Hotel on the following dates: year 10 on Monday 22nd October, year 11 Tuesday 23rd October and year 12 and 13 Wednesday 24th October.

The year 5 meeting went very well on Wednesday and Miss Cheng is very grateful that almost everyone was able to attend. For those of you who were not able to come, Miss Cheng will be sending you a note to arrange meetings so that she can update you on what you missed.

Your child’s 2011-2012 ENLACE results are now available online. You will need to go to the following link http://www.enlace.sep.gob.mx , click on E. Básica 2012 Resultados por Alumno and insert your child’s unique reference number which was sent home in diaries last academic year.

We will now be opening the main, middle gate at 7:45am so that students can walk into school through this gate rather than coming in the same gate as the cars. Please remember that Primary children must be dropped off inside the school.

CARTA SEMANAL No. 773

Viernes 5 de octubre del 2012 

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:
Hemos tenido dos campamentos muy exitosos recientemente. Año 11 y sus maestros se la pasaron muy bien en Huasca, Hidalgo, la semana pasada donde visitaron las Prismas Basálticas, caminaron de noche en el bosque, atravesaron cañones y se aventaron por la tirolesa. Año 7 también se divirtieron mucho en su viaje a Xochitla esta semana bañándose en el lodo y estuvieron felices con todas las maravillosas actividades de integración. ¡Muchas gracias a todos los maestros que organizaron y acompañaron a los estudiantes en sus respectivos campamentos!

Nuestros estudiantes de Kinder disfrutaron mucho las actividades del viernes pasado donde compartieron una variedad de actividades con sus padres. Padres de familia y niños jugaron en el campo de la escuela, hicieron manualidades y compartieron deliciosa comida. Muchas gracias a todos por venir y hacer de ese día uno tan especial.

El martes de esta semana Años 12 y 13 fueron a la Feria de Universidades en el Colegio JFK en Querétaro. Tuvieron la oportunidad invaluable de hablar con representantes de universidades de alrededor del mundo lo cual les ayudará con el proceso de escoger qué carrera y en qué universidad van a estudiar.

Nuestros alumnos trabajaron muy creativamente con arcilla esta semana. Estamos deseosos de ver sus logros, los cuales serán exhibidos el viernes 19 de octubre en el Big Draw que se llevará a cabo en La Moraleja.

La Casa Hogar requiere de su participación; venden boletos para una comida con el fin de recaudar fondos para la construcción de la casa en el terreno donde se encuentran. La comida se llevará a cabo el 21 de octubre en sus instalaciones ubicadas en: Lomas Verdes s/n Ampliación López Mateos. Costo del boleto $60.00, con Lety en Recepción.

Habrá juntas para los padres de familia de nuestros alumnos de Prepa con el fin de explicar nuestro sistema más a fondo. Es muy importante que asistan a estas juntas. Se llevarán a cabo a las 9 a.m. en el Hotel Las Cavas en las siguientes fechas: Año 10, lunes 22 de octubre; Año 11 martes 23 de octubre y Años 12 y 13, miércoles 24 de octubre.

Les fue muy bien en la junta de Año 5 el miércoles de esta semana y Miss Cheng está muy agradecida con todos los que pudieron asistir. Para aquellos que les fue imposible llegar, Miss Cheng les enviará una nota para programar juntas en las que se puedan poner al corriente con toda la información.

Ya están los resultados de sus hijos de ENLACE 2011-2012 en internet. Con la siguiente liga http://www.enlace.sep.gob.mx, hagan clic en E. Básica 2012 Resultados por Alumno y escriban el número de referencia único de su hijo la cual enviamos en los diarios de sus hijos el año pasado.

Se abrirá la reja principal de la escuela a las 7:45 a.m. para que puedan ingresar caminando los estudiantes en lugar de entrar por la misma reja que los coches. Recuerden que es necesario que a los niños de Primaria los dejen dentro del colegio.
