ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:

¡Esta fue la última semana del periodo y fue una semana llena de actividades, mucho trabajo y diversión! Año 7 se fue de campamento a Xochitla donde se la pasaron muy bien. Le damos las gracias a Mrs. Clemens, Mrs. Monjaraz, Mr. Romero y Miss Wadsley por la organización y la ayuda durante su viaje. El pasado jueves el equipo de Inglés de Primaria tuvo un día  de mucho provecho planeando y revisando el currículo de Cambridge.

La semana pasada, Año 1 acampó en el Encanto. Les agradecemos mucho a Miss Marshall, Mrs Gómez and Lety Pacheco por todo su esfuerzo en hacer de esta actividad una experiencia tan divertida para todos los niños.

Le damos las gracias al Sr. Roberto Ugalde por donar las barras para la ventana del 1B9.

Quisiéramos agradecerles al Dr. Henshaw y esposa por compartirnos sus conocimientos y experiencia en el área de educación. Además apreciamos mucho todas las donaciones que han brindado.

Mr Kennedy quisiera da las gracias a todos los alumnos de Geografía IGCSE de Año 11 por haber asistido a las sesiones semanales de una hora (30 horas extra) que les  impartió después de clases hasta el día 15 de abril. Los alumnos han hecho un gran esfuerzo y Mr. Kennedy  quiere hacer un reconocimiento a la dedicación de los alumnos y agradecer a los padres de familia por apoyar las clases extra. ¡Mucha suerte en sus exámenes!

Otra noticia por parte de Mr. Kennedy; los dos grupos de Año 7 dieron una excelente presentación de la obra 'El Último de los Mohicanos' y logramos juntar más de $500.00 pesos para el Orfanato de Tequisquiapan. Realmente esperamos que se sigan realizando diferentes actividades de recaudación a lo largo del año. Muchas gracias a todas las familias que ayudaron a los grupos de Año 7 con el vestuario y demás preparativos.

Rodolfo, quien se encarga del departamento de tecnología, está por cargar las obras a nuestra página de Facebook y pronto se podrán ver en la página web del VICTORIA con el fin de que puedan ver las actuaciones de sus hijos en el momento que lo deseen. Además, estaremos cargando un demo de 15 minutos acerca de los paneles solares explicando el por qué son más eficientes que el gas LP (más baratos y duran más sin gastos de mantenimiento).

Un recordatorio: No habrá clases el 5 de mayo y hay la posibilidad de que el 6 de mayo tampoco haya clases pero aún no se confirma esta fecha.

A todos les deseo que disfruten mucho de sus vacaciones de Semana Santa. A nuestros alumnos de Año 13, les deseamos toda la suerte al realizar sus revisiones para sus exámenes internacionales de Cambridge que inician en mayo. Nos vemos el 2 de mayo.

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER No. 717

DEAR PARENTS,

We have had a very busy last week of term here at VICTORIA which has been full of hard work and fun! Year 7 had a fantastic time camping in Xochitla. Thank you very much to Mrs Clemens, Mrs Monjaraz, Mr Romeo and Miss Wadsley for organising and supporting the trip. On Thursday, the Primary English team had a very successful day planning and revising our Cambridge curriculum.

Last week, Year 1 had a great time on their camp at El Encanto. A big thank you to Miss Marshall, Mrs Gómez and Lety Pacheco for all their hard work in making it such an enjoyable experience for the children.
Thank you to Roberto Ugalde for donating the bars for the window in 1B9.

We would also like to thank Dr and Mrs Henshaw for sharing so much of their knowledge and experience in education. The donations which they have given are greatly appreciated.

Mr Kennedy would like to say a big thank you to all of the Geography IGCSE Year 11s, who since September have attended an after school session for 1 hour a week until the 15th of April (30 extra hours!). A great effort and respect to the hard work and dedication shown and many thanks to those parents who supported this. Good luck for the exam!

Mr Kennedy would also like to report that both of the Year 7 "Last of the Mohican" plays went amazingly well. We raised over 500 Pesos for the Tequisquiapan Orphanage and we hope that different fundraisers continue to happen throughout the year. Many thanks to all the parents who have supported the Year 7 play with making costumes, etc.

Rodolfo, our IT technician, is currently in the process of uploading the plays onto the Victoria Facebook page and it will soon be added to our website, so that you can watch your child’s great educational performance at your own leisure. Also, we will soon be uploading a 15 minute demo on solar panels which outlines why they are better than gas (cheaper and longer lasting with no maintenance costs).

I would like to remind you all that school will be closed on Thursday 5th May. There is a chance that school may be closed on Friday 6th May but we have not had this confirmed yet.

I hope that you all have a relaxing Easter break and I wish our Prepa students good luck with their revision for the international Cambridge exams which start in May. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday 2nd May.

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:

Muchas felicidades a los alumnos de Año 6 y 7 los cuales juegan fútbol con los “Guerreros de Tequisquiapan”.  Jugaron contra el colegio Sovany el pasado jueves y ganaron 7-2. ¡Muy bien jugado!

Les quiero agradecer el apoyo que han seguido brindando al  Orfanato de Tequisquiapan. El orfanato ya se mudó a una casa mejor equipada y con mejor ubicación. Se encuentra a espaldas del supermercado Dorantes en la calle Aquiles Cerdán No. 202.  Cualquier apoyo que pudieran dar en cuanto a tiempo por las mañanas o por la tarde, ayudando a hacer tareas, bañando niños, durante la cena etc, es bienvenido. Durante este mes estaremos recolectando los siguientes artículos:

·         Detergente para ropa - Kínder, Años 1, 2, 3 y 4

·         Cereal – Años 5, 6, 7 y 8

·         Latas de atún y de sardinas – Años 9, 10, 11, 12 y 13

El orfanato también requiere de ropa interior y calcetines (de segunda mano en buen estado o nueva), sábanas y toallas. Si tienen la posibilidad de donar algunos de los artículos mencionados los pueden dejar con Lety en la Recepción. ¡Muchas gracias!

También quiero darle las gracias a Laila Galindo por todo la ayuda que nos ha dado en la administración. Le agradecemos mucho su apoyo.

El asilo de ancianos en Tequisquiapan ‘La Divina Providencia’ está organizando una tómbola para Pascua. Si pueden donar un premio por favor háganselo llegar a Mrs. Pruneda.

Estamos interesados en que nos ayuden a incrementar el reconocimiento de la escuela. Les pedimos que si saben de algún lugar donde podamos promocionar la escuela con posters y trípticos, se lo comuniquen a Lety en Recepción.

Una nota para sus agendas, el día miércoles 15 de junio la escuela permanecerá cerrada ya que se llevará a cabo una capacitación de maestros.

Estamos llegando al final de otro periodo de calificaciones y hemos estado muy ocupados. Ha habido muchos eventos increíbles y con solo una semana más para que termine, todavía hay muchas actividades. Año 7 se va de campamento la próxima semana. ¡Buen fin de periodo!

La próxima semana algunas actividades extracurriculares se suspenderán. Es importante que sus hijos se pongan de acuerdo con los maestros que la actividad a la que asisten se vaya a dar.

Y para terminar, les pedimos de la manera más atenta que sean puntuales para recoger a sus hijos a las 3 p.m. Muchas gracias.

DEAR PARENTS,

Congratulations to the year 6 and 7 students who play football for the “Guerreros de Tequisquiapan”.  They played the Sovany School last Thursday and they won 7-2.  Well done!

I would like to thank you all for your continued support with the orphanage in Tequisquiapan.  The orphanage has now moved to a new house which is better equipped and in a better location.  It is located behind Dorantes, Aquiles Cerdán No. 202.  If you would like to offer any of your time to help them in the morning or afternoon with doing their homework, bathing, having dinner, etc., then it would be most welcome.  This month, in school, we will be collecting the following items:

·         Soap to wash clothes – Kinder, Years 1, 2, 3 and 4

·         Cereal – Years 5, 6, 7 and 8

·         Cans of tuna and sardines – Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13

The orphanage is also in need of underwear and socks (new or used), bedding and towels.  If you are able to donate any items, please leave them with Lety in Reception.  Thank you!

I would also like to thank Laila Galindo for all the help and support she has been giving the admin time.  We really appreciate your support.

The Old People’s home in Tequisquiapan ‘La Divina Providencia’ is organising a tombola which will take place at Easter.  If you are able to donate a prize, please give it to Mrs. Pruneda.

We would like your support with raising the profile of the school.  If you know of somewhere where we could display an information poster and leaflets, please contact Lety in Reception.

A note for your diaries – school will be closed to students on Wednesday 15^th June as we will be having a staff training day.

We are coming to the end of term and it has been a busy time at VICTORIA.  We have had lots of wonderful events this term and with just one more week to go, we still have lots going on, including the year 7 camp next week.  Here’s to a great last week of term!

Next week, some after school activities will not be running. Please ask your child to check with the teacher concerned as to whether the activity will be taking place.

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:

Muchas felicidades a los ganadores de la Rifa de la Asociación de Padres de Familia:

3^er Lugar: Giancarlo Orellame, se llevó la cámara digital

¡Muchas gracias a la Asociación por todo su esfuerzo y trabajo en organizar la rifa!

Felicitamos a todos los alumnos de Secundaria que compitieron en la 'Olimpiada de las Competencias'. Participaron 14 escuelas de nuestra zona. María José Alonso Rivera de Año 8 obtuvo el primer lugar de su grupo, Angélica Muñoz Rodríguez de Año 9 logró el 4^to lugar y Rodrigo Alberto Torres Saavedra de Año 10 logró el 2^do lugar de su grupo. ¡Muchas felicidades y estamos muy orgullosos de ustedes!

Año 7 está por terminar su trabajo con el libro 'El Último de los Mohicanos' y ya tienen tres escenas con los diálogos para hacer una presentación de la historia. Durante las últimas 3 semanas han estado practicando y ya están listos para presentar su obra a nuestros alumnos de Año 6 con la intención de prepararlos para su siguiente  año escolar ya que van a estudiar esta historia en su clase de inglés. Se ha enfatizado en la  pronunciación en inglés, expresión, historia y civismo. Hemos rifado 50 lugares para ver la presentación con el fin de recaudar dinero para el Orfanato de Tequisquiapan.

Año 8 ya lleva siete semanas apoyando el Orfanato de San Juan del Río y les agradecemos mucho a todos los papás que han apoyado con el transporte. Cada jueves van 8 alumnos y ayudan a los niños con sus tareas de matemáticas, historia, geografía, inglés y ciencia. También los apoyan con sus trabajos de arte, con la lectura y juegos con bases educativas. Continuarán con el proyecto hasta el 23 de junio y esperemos que el siguiente año escolar lo retomen.

La semana del Libro en Primaria continuó esta semana: Año 6 escribió su propia versión de La Cenicienta, Año 5 volvió a hacer pasteles de hada y Año 2 hizo postre de Gruffalo con todo y los mezquinos verdes.

Por parte de los alumnos de Año 12 les informamos que la próxima semana se venderán mochilas cruzadas (se cuelgan de un hombro cruzando el cuerpo), tendrán un costo de $150 pesos cada una, sin embargo no hay muchas por lo que tendrán que adquirir la suya lo antes posible.

Algunos recordatorios importantes:

·         Durante esta época de mucho calor, lo niños deberán traer al menos un litro de agua a la escuela diariamente.

·         Al recoger a sus hijos por la tarde, por favor asegúrense de que se pongan los cinturones de seguridad antes de dejar las instalaciones de la escuela.

·         Es importante que se cercioren que el material de reciclaje que mandan a la escuela esté limpia. No recibimos material sucio como es el papel tisú  (Kleenex) utilizado u otros artículos de este tipo.

·         Respecto a gorras y tupperwares olvidados, les agradeceremos pasar a recogerlos con Susy; de lo contrario, los que no se recojan se donaran  al Orfanato de Tequisquiapan.

Y, por último, el lunes de esta semana los niños y personal del Orfanato de Tequisquiapan nos visitaron para recibir el dinero que se recaudó el 'Día de las Narices Rojas'. Uno de los muchachos habló ante  los alumnos del VICTORIA agradeciéndole a toda la comunidad de nuestra escuela por  la ayuda que les hemos otorgado. Yo les quiero agradecer a todos ustedes como padres de familia el apoyo que han brindado como parte de esta comunidad.

DEAR PARENTS,

Congratulations to the lucky winners of the Parent’s Association raffle:

1^st Place: Florencia Trejo Muriel won the moped.

2^nd Place: Ale Ruíz won the television.

3^rd Place: Giancarlo Orellame won the digital camera.

Thank you very much to the Parent’s Association for all their hard work in organising the raffle!

Congratulations to our secondary students who recently competed in the 'Olimpiada de las Competencias'. Fourteen schools participated from our school zone. Maria José Alonso Rivera in Year 8 came 1st for her year group, Angélica Muñoz Rodríguez in Year 9 came 4th for her year group and Rodrigo Alberto Torres Saavedra in Year 10 came 2nd for his year group. Well done, we are very proud of you!

Year 7 have been finishing their Last of the Mohicans English topic and they have written 3 scenes and the scripts to perform the story. Over the last 3 weeks, they have been practising and they now plan to perform the play to our Year 6 students with the aim of educating them ready for Year 7 (as they will study this story in English).  They have also been focusing on English pronunciation, expression, History and citizenship.  Fifty seats have been raffled to watch the play and raise money for the orphanage in Tequisquiapan. 
Year 8 are now into their seventh week of supporting the orphanage in San Juan del Rio.  Many thanks to the parents who have volunteered to transport the pupils. Every Thursday, four Year 8 pupils go to the orphanage to help the children with their homework (maths, history, geography, English and science).  They also help them with artwork, reading skills and they play educationally based games. The project will continue until 23rd June and hopefully into the new academic year!

Primary Book Week seems to have continued this week: Year 6 have written their own version of Cinderella, Year 5 have made fairy cakes and Year 2 have baked a Gruffalo crumble, complete with green warts!

On behalf of the Year 12 business studies students, I would like to announce that next week they will start selling ‘sidebacks’ (rucksacks with one strap that goes across the body).  They will cost $150 pesos each, however, there is a limited number available, so you will need to buy one as soon as possible!

Just a few very important reminders:

·         In this very hot weather, all students should bring at least one litre of drinking water to school.

·         When collecting your children from school, please make sure that they put their seat belts on before leaving the school grounds.

·         Please ensure that you only send clean recycling to school.  We do not wish to receive dirty tissue paper or any other unclean items.

·         In regards to lost property (especially baseball caps and Tupperware), we would appreciate it if you could see Susi to collect any lost items, if not they will be donated to the orphanage.

And finally, on Monday, children and staff from the Tequisquiapan orphanage, came to receive the money that we raised during Red Nose Day.  One of the boys made a lovely speech to the whole school, thanking the VICTORIA community for all the help and support that we are giving the orphanage.  I would like to say a big thank you to you as parents for being a part of the supportive VICTORIA community!
