Parents,
Our year 6 had an incredible camp last week to Rancho Santa Marina. Despite
the cold weather, they enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities including horse
riding, a treasure hunt and planting trees. They watched sheep being milked,
tasted cheese products and were able to make their own good luck sheep out of
sheep’s wool. Thank you to Mr Murphy, Miss Bircumshaw and our staff who
accompanied them!
On Monday, our Nursery and Reception students went on a trip to the
centre. They went to the post office, the Hotel Plaza and to K’puchinos
where they had a delicious lunch! We would like to say "thank you" to
all the mums that made this trip possible and a special "thank you"
to K’puchinos for their hospitality.
We would also like to thank the Raventos Ricarte family for their
delightful and generous gift. We promise to enjoy it!
We were very pleased with our Open Day on Thursday. Combining the 'How' and
'Why' of VICTORIA with tours (and free wandering) of the school, allowed
prospective parents to visit the classes they wanted and us to target
information more accurately. We are not holding another Open Day this academic
year but remember that our administration team is always happy to show visitors
around during the teaching day. Please contact Lety O. in Reception to arrange
a visit or Day Trial.
I am on my way to the UK today to recruit new teachers for August 2013. I
will return on Friday 8th February. My German
activity and parenting course will continue whilst I am away. Dr. America will
run a session on First Aid on Wednesday 30th January and Sex
Education on Wednesday 6th February at 1:45pm. The word of the week
is snow.
The extra-curricular activity, Flag Marching Band, run by our Primary Music
teacher, Eduardo Gómez, has been changed to Wednesday. There are still spaces
available for years 7 - 10 both boys and girls are welcome to join.
There are two football games against neighboring schools programmed for
next week at VICTORIA: Monday 28th January, Primary football years
1, 2, and 3 at 3pm (VICTORIA vs Querenda) and Tuesday 29th January,
Secondary and Prepa girls football at 3:10pm (VICTORIA vs Sovany). We hope to
see you supporting our teams on both days!
If you are pregnant or have children no older than 2 years of age, MaPo
invites you to a talk at the MaPo facilities (Plaza Pedregal, second floor,
next to the washrooms) on Monday 28th January at 6pm.
The Parents´ Association is
organising a Valentine´s disco night for Friday 15th February. This
is an adult only event and the venue will be confirmed soon. Please keep the date free and come along and
have some fun!

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:
El grupo de Año 6 se la pasó increíblemente en su
campamento al Rancho Santa Marina la semana pasada. A pesar del frío,
disfrutaron una variedad de actividades
al aire libre incluyendo paseos a caballo, una búsqueda de tesoro y plantar
árboles. También pudieron observar como se ordeñaba a las borregas, probar
productos de queso y hacer borreguitos de la suerte con lana esquilada. Muchas
gracias a Mr. Murphy, Miss Bircumshaw y a todo el personal que los acompañó.
El lunes de esta semana, nuestros alumnos de Kinder
hicieron una visita al centro de Tequisquiapan. Fueron a la Oficina de Correos,
al Hotel Plaza y a K’puchinos donde disfrutaron de un delicioso almuerzo. Les
damos las gracias a todas las mamás que hicieron de está visita una realidad y
le agradecemos mucho a K’puchinos por su hospitalidad.
Otro agradecimiento a la familia Raventos Ricarte por
hacernos llegar tan exquisito y generoso regalo. ¡Prometemos disfrutarlo!
Estuvimos muy satisfechos con nuestro Día Abierto el
jueves. El combinar el ‘¿Cómo?’ con el ‘¿Por qué?’ del VICTORIA con las visitas
guiadas (y la libertad de caminar) por la escuela, le dio la oportunidad a los
papás de visitar los salones que les interesaba y a nosotros, proporcionar la
información con más precisión. No habrá otro Día Abierto durante este ciclo
escolar, pero recuerden que nuestro equipo en Administración siempre está
dispuesto a mostrar la escuela a familias interesadas durante el transcurso del
día escolar. Por favor comuníquense con Lety O. en Recepción para organizar una
visita o Día de Prueba.
Estoy en camino al Reino Unido para reclutar a nuevos
maestros para agosto 2013 y regreso el viernes 8 de febrero. Mi actividad de
alemán y el curso para padres seguirán sin cambios mientras esté ausente. La Dra.
América impartirá un curso de Primeros Auxilios el miércoles 30 de enero y de
Educación Sexual el 6 de febrero a la 1.45 p.m. La palabra de la semana es
nieve.
La actividad extra-curricular, Banda de Guerra, con el
maestro de música en Primaria, Eduardo Gómez se cambió a miércoles. Aún hay
lugares disponibles para niños y niñas en Años 7 - 10.
Tenemos programados dos partidos de fútbol en contra
de escuelas de Tequisquiapan que se llevarán acabo en nuestras instalaciones:
lunes 28 de enero, para Primaria, Años 1, 2, y 3 a las 3 p.m. (VICTORIA vs
Querenda) y martes 29 de enero, para niños en Secundaria y Prepa a las 3:10
p.m. (VICTORIA vs Sovany). ¡Esperamos verlos apoyando a nuestros equipos ambos
días!
Si estás embarazada o tienes bebés menores de 2 años,
te recomendamos asistir a la plática que se llevará a cabo el próximo lunes 28
de enero a las 6 p.m. en las instalaciones de MaPo Kids (Plaza Pedregal, planta
alta junto a los baños).
La Asociación de
Padres de Familia está organizando una Noche de Discoteca el viernes 15 de febrero
por el día de San Valentín. Es un evento solamente para adultos y más adelante
se confirmará el lugar. ¡Por favor aparten el día y vengan a divertirse!
