Dear Parents,
We have had a tremendously busy week here at VICTORIA and have lots of exciting activities to report!
Many thanks to all the families and students who organised the Cricket fundraising event at Las Cavas last Friday. The evening went extremely well. Delicious food and great music was enjoyed by all! We look forward to more fundraisers!
Many congratulations to our Secondary girls who won their first match in the Copa Coca Cola last Saturday. Our girls played the Escuela Tecnica 19 and won 5-1. Well done! Both our boys and girls teams are playing tomorrow morning (Saturday 13th October) at the Unidad in San Juan del Rio.
Our Primary boys football team visited the local Otomi Community near Cadereyta and had a good match on Tuesday; the final score was 2-4. As well as playing football, they went to a working quarry and received a handmade gift from the other team.
Years 4, 5 & 6 went on Thursday to EXPOCYTEQ, the science and technology fair. It was a wonderful trip! Kids participated in lots of exciting activities and they returned to school with a handful of interesting projects. I want to congratulate all of the students on their excellent behaviour and for representing VICTORIA so well. Many, many thanks to all the teachers and assistants who supervised the small groups.
Our year 8 group did a tour of the Legends in downtown Querétaro where they met the Zacatecana and the Llorona. From there they visited the Cerro de las Campanas and the Magic from the Past Museum. We would like to thank Jeanette Blanchet, Rocío Vela, Andrea Nieves and Manuel Gamboa for accompanying us.
On Monday representatives from the Anáhuac University came to visit the school to give a talk to Yr 12 & 13 students about university life and career options at the Anahuac. Yr 13 has also been taking a course with the Tec de Monterrey this week. In our agreement with the Tec, they send a teacher to VICTORIA to prepare our students for the entrance exam which was held today. It was a tough week as the course ran from 3:30pm – 7:30pm every day.
On Friday 19th October the Student Council is organising ‘Crazy Clothes Day’. Students will be allowed to dress as they wish, the crazier the better but please ensure that they do not wear inappropriate footwear – we don’t want any accidents! If they wish to dress up they need to pay a minimum of $20 for the day. Half the money received will be donated to the Orphanage in Tequisquiapan and the other half will go towards the Cricket fund to help pay for our three students to participate in the International Tournament in El Salvador.
We would like to invite the VICTORIA community to collect sweaters and jackets to help out our fellow countrymen from the Mixe Community in Tlahuitoltepec Oaxaca. They always wear their traditional clothing which is why we are only asking for something they can wear on top to better protect themselves from the cold weather. If you have sweaters or jackets at home that you no longer use, please leave them in Reception with Lety. We´ll be collecting until 26th October. Thank you very much for your help!
The Art Department is looking for a wide range of coloured plastic bags. It doesn't matter what size and shape, as long as they are plastic and are colourful. The 'Big Draw' activities have been a huge success again this year and VICTORIA would like to invite you to the exhibition on Friday 19th October, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at La Moraleja, located next to the post office in the centre of Tequisquiapan.
Don’t forget it is Sports Day on Tuesday 16th October. School will therefore finish at midday and the buses will leave at that time. For new families this is an annual event and is for the students of the school. The PA will provide refreshments at break but please ensure that your child brings their normal lunch, water bottle (with their name on it), a cap and sunblock.
Once again we are sending home the Baker Books catalogues, which we think are offering even better value for money this time! Please look through them with your children and send the order forms and payment into school any day next week. Lety will be happy to take your orders for these quality books. The word of the week is reading.
We will be limiting the number of advertisements that we attach to our newsletters to two a week. If you would like to include an ad then you need to contact Lety Ochoa or Gloria Sánchez who will confirm which date it will go out.

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:
¡Esta semana estuvo muy ocupada y tenemos muchas actividades que reportar!
Muchas gracias a todas las familias que organizaron el evento del viernes pasado en Las Cavas para recaudar fondos para cricket. La noche estuvo muy agradable acompañada de deliciosa comida y excelente música donde todos se divirtieron. ¡Ojalá haya más de este tipo de eventos!
Mucha felicidades a nuestro equipo femenil de fút de Secundaria quienes ganaron su primer partido de la Copa Coca el sábado de la semana pasada en contra de la Escuela Técnica 19 y ganaron 5-1. ¡Bien hecho! Ambos equipos, femenil y varonil de Secundaria, juegan mañana 13 de octubre en la Unidad en San Juan del Río.
El equipo de fút de Primaria visitó la comunidad Otomí local cerca de Cadereyta donde tuvieron un buen partido; el marcador final fue 2-4. Luego fueron a la cantera y recibieron un regalo hecho a mano por parte del otro equipo.
Años 4, 5 y 6 fueron a la feria de ciencia y tecnología, EXPOCYTEQ, el jueves de esta semana. ¡Fue un viaje increíble! Los niños participaron en muchas actividades y regresaron a la escuela con varios proyectos para desarrollar. Quiero felicitar a todos los estudiantes por su buena conducta y por representar al VICTORIA de esta manera. Quiero también darles las gracias a todos los maestros y asistentes que nos acompañaron a supervisar los grupos pequeños.
El grupo de año 8 hizo un recorrido de Leyendas en el centro de Querétaro, donde tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer a La Zacatecana y a La Llorona. De ahí fueron al Cerro de las Campanas y al Museo Magia del Pasado. Queremos agradecer la ayuda de Jeanette Blanchet, Rocío Vela, Andrea Nieves y Manuel Gamboa.
El lunes, representantes de la Universidad Anáhuac visitaron la escuela para dar una plática con Años 12 y 13 acerca de la vida universitaria y las opciones de carrera que tienen disponibles. Durante la semana, Año 13 estuvo tomando un curso con el Tec de Monterrey. Como parte de nuestro acuerdo con el Tec, ellos nos mandan a un maestro para preparar a nuestros alumnos para tomar el examen de admisión el cual se aplicó el día de hoy. Fue una semana pesada para los alumnos ya que el curso era todos los días de 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
El Consejo Estudiantil está organizando ‘Viernes Loco’ para el 19 de octubre. Los alumnos podrán venir vestidos como quieran, entre más loco mejor, pero asegúrense que traigan zapatos adecuados - no queremos accidentes. Si sus hijos quieren venir vestidos alocadamente para ese día, tendrán que pagar un mínimo de $20.00 pesos. De lo recaudado, la mitad se donará a la Casa Hogar de Tequisquiapan y la otra mitad se usará para el fondo de cricket para ayudar a pagar la participación de nuestros 3 alumnos en el Torneo de Cricket Internacional.
Estamos invitando a toda la familia VICTORIA a realizar una colecta de suéteres y chamarras, para ayudar a pasar un mejor invierno a nuestros hermanos indígenas de la comunidad mixe de Tlahuitoltepec Oaxaca, ellos utilizan traje típico, por lo que no se solicita otro tipo de ropa, solamente algo para cubrirse del frio. Si tienes en tu casa suéteres o chamarras en buenas condiciones y que ya no vayas a utilizar, puedes dejarlos en Recepción con Lety, los estaremos juntando hasta el 26 de octubre. El Departamento de Arte busca bolsas de plástico de colores llamativos. No importa el tamaño ni la forma de la bolsa, con tal de que sean de plástico y de colores. Las actividades para el 'Big Draw' han sido un gran éxito de nuevo este año y el VICTORIA los invita a la exhibición el viernes 19 de octubre de 6:30 p.m. a 8:30 p.m. en La Moraleja, ubicado a un lado de la oficina de correos en el centro de Tequisquiapan.
No se les vaya olvidar que es el ‘Día Deportivo’ el martes 16 de octubre. Habrá escuela hasta medio día y los camiones salen a esa hora. Para todos aquellos que son nuevos al VICTORIA, esto es un evento anual y se organiza para los estudiantes. Durante el día, la Asociación de Padres de Familia prepara bebidas a los alumnos en los recreos y les pedimos que se aseguren que sus hijos traigan su lunch normal, una botella de agua con su nombre y bloqueador.
Ya llegaron los catálogos de los Libros Baker, con aún mejores precios, y de nuevo los estamos enviando con sus hijos a casa. Por favor vean la selección de libros con sus hijos y manden los formatos de pedidos y el dinero a la escuela cualquier día de la próxima semana. Lety con gusto recibirá sus pedidos para estos excelentes libros en Recepción. La palabra de la semana es lectura.
Estamos limitando el número de volantes que se adjuntan a la carta semanal a dos por semana. Si quieren que se incluya su volante con la carta, por favor hablen a la escuela con Lety Ochoa o Gloria Sánchez para confirmar la fecha en la que podrá salir.

- Esta carta lo pueden recibir por correo con todo y los volantes que se envían semana con semana. Envíen un correo a Gloria Sánchez gsc.ibv@gmail.com e incluyan su nombre, correo y nombre de la familia y empiecen a recibir la carta por correo y no impresa.
