Dear
Parents,
Year 4 had an incredible camp last week at El Encanto.
They customised their own baseball caps, swam, played football and worked very
well together as a team to move the tents when the rain started.
This week our Primary students have embraced the
cultures of Lebanon, Indonesia, India, Iceland, Madagascar, the Philippines, Switzerland,
Egypt and Germany. I have seen pyramids and volcanoes, a mosque and the Taj
Mahal, a lemur, a komodo dragon and several tersiers are also around! The Swiss
cooked rosti and the Germans sausage. Primary parents, I’m sure you enjoyed
your World Tour today!
Year 10 sat their examinations this week which puts
them in excellent preparation for their IGCSE exams next year.
On Monday, Years 5, 6 and 7 had a football match and
the score was 2-0 to the Querenda. On
Tuesday our Secondary and Prepa students played mixed volleyball, also against Querenda.
Our team was down during the first set 23-25 but was able to recover in the
second 25-20; and lost the third set. Both games were really close and everyone
enjoyed themselves. Well done!
Next week the following activities will not be
running: Monday’s Maths with Miss Wadsley and Mr. Ruíz, Wednesday’s Puzzles,
Thursday’s Cricket and International Dance and Art Club. A special thank you to
Mr Murphy, Jon Bonfiglio, Anthony Cooper and Mr Nevett for their dedication in
teaching and coaching the Cricket Club.
On Tuesday 19th, Wednesday 20th
and Thursday 21st, Rugby Specialists are coming from Querétaro to give Rugby sessions to our
students during their P.E. classes. On those same days, there will also be an
afterschool Rugby activity from 3-4 pm for both boys and girls, who would like
to get to know the game, to play Tag Rugby (non-contact Rugby).
This week we signed an agreement with the EBC University
which entitles one of our Year 13 students to a 50% scholarship if they achieve
the required grade average. Many thanks to the representatives from the
Parents’ Association, Year 12 and EHG for attending the ceremony.
On Tuesday we had our final VICTORIA Board Meeting of
the year. I would like to say a special thank you to Oliva Borbolla, Amira
Dávalos, Richard Gilby and Gaby Marrón for all their support on the VICTORIA
Board of Directors over the last 2 years. Thanks also, of course, to the
continuing members.
The PA also ran a very creative activity for our
students this week which I think will give our dads a happy weekend!
A few
reminders:

The last day of classes will be on Wednesday 27th June.
·
The closing ceremony will take place on Monday 2nd July.
·
We will be holding a Talent Show on Friday 29th June at 7:30pm.
·
The first day of classes after the summer holidays will be Wednesday 22nd
August.
·
We will hold meetings for parents and students to come and meet their
new teachers on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st August. I will publish the meeting times for each
year group before the end of term.
·
In order for your child to receive their boleta grade at the end of the
year, you must be up to date with your school fee payments and have returned
all library books.
·
We are still collecting newspaper and cereal boxes for Something
Different Week.
Today is the Battle of the Bands at 7:30 pm. It is a
ticket only event. Please come in and show our bands your support!
Year 12 students are selling T-shirts ($125 pesos) at
tonight’s event and throughout next week. It is part of their Business Studies
project. They really hope to count on your support. The word of the week is
music.

ESTIMADOS PADRES DE FAMILIA:
La
semana pasada, Año 4 fue de campamento al Encanto y estuvo increíble. Pintaron
gorras, nadaron, jugaron fútbol y trabajaron muy bien en equipo al tener que
mover sus tiendas de campaña a causa de la lluvia.
Esta
semana nuestros alumnos de Primaria se dedicaron a conocer las culturas del
Líbano, Indonesia, la India, Islandia, Madagascar, Filipinas, Suiza, Egipto y
Alemania. Ya vi pirámides y volcanes, una mezquita y el Taj Mahal, un lémur, un
dragón de Komodo y varios tarsos rondando la escuela. Los suizos cocinaron rostí
y los alemanes salchicha. ¡Padres de familia de Primaria, estoy segura que
disfrutaron su Tour Alrededor del Mundo el día de hoy!
Los
alumnos de Año 10 hicieron sus exámenes finales esta semana lo cual los prepara
muy bien para sus exámenes IGCSE que tendrán el próximo año escolar.
Los
niños de Años 5, 6 y 7 jugaron un partido de fútbol el lunes y quedaron 2-0 a
favor del Querenda. El martes nuestros
alumnos de Secundaria y Prepa jugaron voleibol mixto también en contra del
Querenda. Nuestro equipo perdió el primer set 23-25 pero se recuperaron en el
segundo, 25-20; desafortunadamente perdieron el tercer set. Los dos partidos
estuvieron muy reñidos y todos se divirtieron mucho. ¡Bien hecho a todos!
La
semana que entra ya no se darán las siguientes actividades extracurriculares:
Matemáticas con Miss Wadsley y Mr Ruíz los lunes, Rompecabezas los miércoles,
Cricket y Danza Internacional los jueves y el Club de Arte. Le agradecemos
mucho a Mr Murphy, Jon Bonfiglio, Anthony Cooper y Mr Nevett su dedicación en
la enseñanza y por entrenar el Club de Cricket.
El
martes 19, miércoles 20 y jueves 21 de junio vendrán a la escuela Especialistas
de Rugby a dar unas sesiones de Rugby a nuestros estudiantes durante sus clases
de Educación Física. También habrá una actividad especial después de clases de
3-4 p.m. esos mismos días para todos los que estén interesados en conocer este
deporte. Se jugará una versión llamado Tag Rugby la cual es sin contacto por lo
que pueden jugar niños y niñas.
Esta
semana el VICTORIA firmó un acuerdo con la Universidad EBC donde se le otorgará
una beca del 50% a uno de nuestros alumnos de Año 13 cumpliendo con los
requisitos de promedio. Les agradecemos mucho a los representantes de la
Asociación de Padres de Familia, Año 12 y EHG por acompañarnos en la ceremonia
de firmas.
Este
martes fue la última junta del año para la Junta de Directores del VICTORIA.
Quisiera hacer un agradecimiento especial a Oliva Borbolla, Amira Dávalos,
Richard Gilby y Gaby Marrón por todo su apoyo en la Junta Directiva del
VICTORIA a lo largo de estos últimos dos años. Gracias también, desde luego, a
los miembros que se quedan.
¡La
APF también les organizó una actividad muy creativa a nuestros alumnos esta
semana y estoy segura que los papás lo disfrutarán en el fin de semana!
Algunos recordatorios:

El último día de clases será el
miércoles 27 de junio.

Nuestro Festival de Fin de Curso,
será el lunes 2 de julio.
·
Presentaremos nuestro Show de
Talentos el viernes 29 de junio a las 7:30 p.m.
·
El primer día de clases después de
las vacaciones de verano será el miércoles 22 de agosto.
·
Tendremos las juntas con padres y
alumnos para que conozcan a sus profesores nuevos el lunes 20 y martes 21 de
agosto. Publicaremos los horarios de estas juntas más adelante antes de que
termine este periodo.
·
Para que reciban las boletas es
necesario estar al corriente con sus colegiaturas y que sus hijos hayan
entregado los libros a la biblioteca.
·
Seguimos recibiendo periódico y cajas
de cereal para la Semana de Algo Diferente.
Hoy
es la Batalla de las Bandas a las 7:30 p.m. La entrada es sólo con boleto. Por
favor vengan y apoyen a las bandas.
Los
alumnos de Año 12 venderán camisetas ($125 pesos) en el evento de la noche y
durante la próxima semana. Esta venta conforma parte de su proyecto de
Negocios. Esperan contar con su apoyo. La palabra de la semana es música.
