Dear Parents,
On Friday 1st June and Saturday 2nd June the San Gil drama group ‘Rue Artes Escénicas’ performed "Woof! It's a Dog's Life" directed by Fabiola Johnson. Several students from VICTORIA participated in the production, Zara Muñoz, Fátima Vázquez, Jerónimo Hernández, Alejandro Azuara, Melina Azuara and Andrea Biestro (Alberto Ruiz's mum). Congratulations!
Year 3 had a great camp at El Arenal last week. As well as painting their own hats and enjoying the lovely water, they made Pooters to study insects and staged their own talent Show.
Our Nursery, Reception and Year 1 pupils had a great day out at the blackberry farm. Thank you to everyone who helped out and made it such a fun and enjoyable trip. Take a look at the photos on our Facebook page.
This week our Primary and Secondary students sat their ENLACE exams and Cambridge Progress Tests. Make sure that you keep hold of the ENLACE talon which is in your child’s diary so that you can access their results when they come out. Thank you to those parents who volunteered to help with our ENLACE exams. We very much appreciate your support.
I would like to say a special thank you to those of you who paid your Parents’ Association (PA) fee. This year only 30% of parents paid their fee which was very disappointing for us and restricted what the PA was able to accomplish. I would like to remind you that when we review current scholarships and consider new applications, payment of the PA fee is taken into consideration. Next week is Culture Week in Primary; when children demonstrate skills acquired throughout the year in all areas of the curriculum, whilst exploring a foreign culture. Parents are invited to take their own 'world tour' on Friday afternoon from 1:00. If you plan for your children to leave early with you and/or not use the bus that day, please put a note in their diary as soon as possible.
It is also the Year 10 exam week next week. The word of the week is travel.
A Primary boy has some very impressive burn scars made by the seatbelt when he was involved in a minor car collision last week. I am very happy that he was wearing his seat belt, which saved him from much more serious injury, and beg you to insist that your own children 'belt up'.
Exciting news! The Battle of the Bands is back on this term. So many of you were disappointed when we had to postpone it and we have managed to squeeze it in on Friday 15th June at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for participants are free and they may buy them for their friends and family on Tuesday, for $10.00. Tickets for everyone else will be on sale from Wednesday onwards and will also cost $10.00. Let the battle begin…
On Monday 11th, after school, our Primary football team (Years 5, 6 and 7) will be playing a match here against the Querenda team and there will be no football activity for younger children that day. On Tuesday 12th, there is a mixed Secondary and Prepa volleyball match against Querenda at 3:00 p.m. I hope that lots of you can come and support our players.
There will be Krispy Kreme doughnuts on sale next Friday 15th June. The box of assorted doughnuts will be sold at $140.00, classic glazed doughnuts at $120.00 and each glazed doughnut sold individually will cost $10.00. All funds go in support of the project "Garabatos". Thank you very much for your support.
Some important dates:
· The last day of classes will be on Wednesday 27th June.
· The closing ceremony will take place on Monday 2nd July.
· We will be holding a Talent Show on Friday 29th June at 7:00 p.m. Come along and enjoy yourselves!
· The first day of classes after the summer holidays will be Wednesday 22nd August.
· We will hold meetings for parents and students to come and meet their new teachers on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st August. I will publish the meeting times for each year group before the end of term.

Estimados Padres de Familia:
El viernes 1 y el sábado 2 de junio el grupo de teatro de San Gil ‘Rue Arte Escénicas’, presentó su obra ‘¡Wow! La Vida de Perro’ dirigido por Fabiola Johnson. Varios alumnos del VICTORIA participaron en la producción, Zara Muñoz, Fátima Vázquez, Jerónimo Hernández, Alejandro y Melina Azuara y Andrea Biestro (mamá de Alberto Ruíz). ¡Felicidades!
La semana pasada, Año 3, tuvo un excelente campamento en El Arenal. Además de pintar sus propias gorras y gozar del agua, hicieron Pooters (mecanismo para transferir o atrapar insectos) y presentaron su Show de Talento.
Nuestros alumnos de Maternal, Recepción y Año 1, pasaron un excelente día en el rancho de zarzamoras. Les agradecemos a todos los que apoyaron haciéndolo divertido y agradable. Pueden ver las fotos en nuestra página de Facebook.
Esta semana nuestros alumnos de Primaria y Secundaria hicieron sus exámenes de ENLACE y Cambridge. Por favor guarden el talón de ENLACE que va en el diario de sus hijos para que puedan tener acceso a los resultados más adelante. Les agradecemos mucho a los padres de familia, quienes vinieron a ayudar con los exámenes. Valoramos mucho su apoyo.
Agradezco de una manera especial a los Padres de Familia que han pagado su cuota a nuestra Asociación de Padres de Familia. Este año sólo el 30% de las familias realizaron el pago de su cuota, lo que nos desilusionó mucho y restringió el trabajo que pudo realizar la APF. Les recuerdo que cuando se revisan las becas actuales y las solicitudes de nuevas becas, se toma en cuenta el pago de esta cuota. La próxima semana será la Semana Cultural en Primaria, donde los niños demuestran las habilidades adquiridas a lo largo del año en todas las áreas del currículo, mientras exploran una cultura extranjera. Se les invita a los padres de familia a un ‘tour mundial’ el viernes a partir de la 1:00 p.m. Si tienen planeado llevarse su hijo ha esta hora o que no se regrese en el camión escolar, les pedimos escriban una nota en el diario lo más pronto posible.
También tomarán sus exámenes los alumnos de Año 10 la siguiente semana. La palabra de la semana es viaje.
Un niño en Primaria tiene unas quemaduras muy impresionantes ya que el auto en el que viajaba estuvo involucrado en un accidente menor. Me da mucho gusto saber que tenía puesto su cinturón de seguridad, lo cual lo salvo de sufrir lesiones más serias, les ruego que sus hijos utilicen el cinturón de seguridad.
¡Información importante! La Guerra de Bandas está de regreso en este periodo. Muchos de ustedes se desilusionaron cuando tuvimos que posponerlo, logramos hacerle un lugarcito el viernes 15 de junio a las 7:30 p.m. Los boletos son gratis para los participantes y para sus amigos y familiares estarán a la venta el martes 12, con un costo de $10.00. Para todos los demás, estarán a la venta a partir del miércoles y costarán $10.00. Que inicie la batalla...
El lunes 11, después de clases, nuestro equipo de futbol de Primaria (Años 5, 6 y 7) jugará un partido con el Colegio Querenda por lo que no habrá actividad de fútbol para los niños más pequeños. Y, el martes 12 habrá un partido mixto de voleibol para Secundaria y Prepa también, con el Colegio Querenda a las 3:00 p.m. Espero que muchos de ustedes puedan venir a apoyar a nuestros jugadores.
El próximo 15 de junio se venderán las donas Krispy Kreme. La caja de donas surtidas $140.00, caja de donas clásicas $120.00 y individual clásica $10.00. Los fondos que se recauden son para apoyar el proyecto "Garabatos". Gracias por apoyar.
Algunas fechas importantes:

- Nuestro Festival de Fin de Curso, será el lunes 2 de julio.
- Presentaremos nuestro Show de Talentos el viernes 29 de junio a las 7:00 p.m. ¡Vengan a divertirse!
- El primer día después de las vacaciones de verano será el miércoles 22 de agosto.
- Tendremos las juntas con padres y alumnos para que conozcan a sus profesores nuevos el lunes 20 y martes 21 de agosto. Publicaremos los horarios de estas juntas más adelante antes de que termine este periodo.
